Our renoviction bylaw survey is up until April 17th, so please let us know your thoughts before it comes back to Guelph City Council in June. haveyoursay.guelph.ca/projects/ren...
It is very sad that we have to temporarily close road entrances to the park because of damage done by a few. We are working on solutions for long term and on the look out for those who caused this.
Not all school is just lecture, book & test. There’s labs, equipment & hands on skills in many disciplines. Not all learners do well with remote. There’s lots of reasons in person education will persist. It’s not our property, we can’t dictate market. As of now, we need homes for students too.
Ah. I believe that with bachelor up to three bedroom units, that this development is intended for all type of students. Many who go to Conestoga have families. It would not sit empty if there was a lack of students. A lot of school requires hands on though.
Blue recycling bin covered in a thick layer of fresh snow on a snowy residential street.
A lot has changed with recycling in #Guelph. Circular Materials now runs the program, and Waste Management handles collection and customer service. For missed pickups, schedules, cart issues, or what’s recyclable, contact WM: canresidential@wm.com or 1‑800‑561‑1655. More: https://ow.ly/yPvr50Y8i1O
By “ghetto” do you mean affordable housing? Because we need both student housing and affordable housing. Housing that people can afford so they are not homeless would make Guelph amazing. Moralizing poverty is a bad call.
We’re working on a vacant home tax for #Guelph – and we want to hear from you!
Take our quick and easy survey by March 9, 2026. Thank you for sharing your thoughts: https://ow.ly/5rCO50YeB8z
Staff will provide public engagement materials and ongoing project updates on the Have Your Say webpage.
haveyoursay.guelph.ca/projects/vic...
The in person meeting and the Have Your Say webpage are the last two opportunities to provide feedback on this project.
Heads up! There will be a Public Open House on February 5 from 5–7 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion (57 Watson Parkway South) for further discussion about the future of McQuillan’s Bridge.

This season can be great if you’re doing well or well enough. If you are having a great holiday, consider sharing your joy or funds with someone who’s not.
From my family to yours, I hope you have a happy holiday.

We have an amazing dairy coop company in Guelph called Gay Lea if you want to shop local for dairy. They make a fabulous coconut whipped cream too if you don’t do dairy. www.gaylea.com
There’s more reasons than just trade protections to keep out a lot of US dairy, and it protects more than just dairy farmers. Especially with the US attack on science and safety regulations going on. cdr.wisc.edu/dairy-recall...

I’m so glad the decision to fund winter maintenance was reversed. Big win for accessibility, and affordability for those who need to ride in winter, as well as many unintended infrastructure headaches for the city at large.
Mayor Cam Guthrie, Minister Rob Flack, MPP Mike Schreiner and Councillors Erin Caton and Linda Busuttil smiling holding a check from the Ontario Building Faster Fund for three million, six hundred and ninety-two thousand dollars.
We’re getting housing built, #Guelph!
Today, Minister Rob Flack announced the City hit 85% of our 2024 housing start goal — and will receive $3.69M through the #BuildingFasterFund. Thanks to Minister Flack for visiting Guelph and bringing us this exciting news.
Get to downtown @guelph.ca for the last day of Spirit of the Season and check out the punk rock market at the Guelph farmers market too. Loads of local artists and vendors to support with your holiday shopping.
Hanukkah sameach to all our Jewish Guelphites! I hope you have a wonderful first night of celebration and contemplation. 🕎
Paper yard waste bags full of leaves
Our crews are still out collecting yard waste across #Guelph. Please keep your yard waste bags at the curb, and they will be collected as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience ow.ly/yKqK50XE2ur
I showed my kid all of Strong Bad and clips from a large selection of cartoons when she complained about the brain rot. I would 100% go to a history of brain rot memes throughout time exhibit at the ROM.

Lots of focus on alt-right groups and radicalization via misinformation created by voids in verified news able to be shared on platforms like Meta. Glad to attend with my colleagues @camguthrie.bsky.social and Cllr. Hauser as part of Guelph's working group.

Happy to be learning more about tactics to combat hate and division in cities from international speakers at the @strongcitiesnetwork.org sixth global summit in Toronto.
Oh my. That’s not okay at all.
I’ve been getting that done. Very convenient.
Keep in mind that testing coverage for Ontario is currently limited due to the province cutting wastewater monitoring in most locations. Flu is also very high right now. If you haven’t had your fall vaccinations and are medically able, they are still available.

Alt: The image features a grayscale photograph of a long, empty hallway with a person walking away in the distance. The individual is highlighted in yellow, contrasting with the monochrome surroundings, emphasizing isolation. The hallway has brick walls with white railings on both sides. Above the photo, a black panel with torn edges. At the top of the image, text reads: "NEW REPORT: ONTARIO OMBUDSMAN REPORTS ON THE USE OF PSYCHIATRIC INSTITUTIONALIZATION FOR PEOPLE LABELLED WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES. Below the image, text reads: This Report supports what disabled people and their families have said for decades: Disabled People are over-medicated, under-supported, and suffering behind the locked walls of psychiatric institutions for months and years at a time. Current efforts to expand adult institutionalization through large-scale group homes will not address these concerns and recent legislation, like Bill 17, will only intensify institutionalization and violence against us.
Mixed feelings about the recent Ombudsman Report "Lost in Transition" on the hospitalization of adults with developmental disabilities and the developmental services system in Ontario

Passing action for the renoviction and rental replacement bylaws, the vacancy tax bylaw and the build of 12 new affordable housing units is a great end of month council meeting.
