When you compliment on your senior but also add sarcasm

Suddenly, Alhaitham’s vision whites out and lava-hot warmth leaks into every crevice of his body. He’s burning. He thinks he must have a fever. He hopes Kaveh won’t blame himself for Alhaitham’s spontaneous sickness. The heat doesn’t cool—it rises. However, Alhaitham finds himself basking in its burn. He feels like he’s being hugged on all sides. It’s comforting, somehow. The tension in his heart drains away, replaced with pleasure curling in his gut. Kaveh keeps saying his name. “Haitham,” he says reverently, eyes half-lidded. “Haitham,” he says again, lips trembling in hunger. “Haitham,” he cries out, voice raw and raspy. “Haitham,” he repeats, the sound growing farther away. “Haitham.” “Haitham.” Alhaitham opens his eyes violently. An uninteresting ceiling stares back. No blinding light, no golden halo. Kaveh is gone.
