I came so close to buying one! The spec and the price met my budget and backwards compatibility with Spectrum software was a nice bonus.

Ultimately, I went with the Amiga and that was the right choice. This doesn't even have hardware sprites or scrolling - stuff that was standard in the early 80s.

I'll be talking about this a lot more on April episodes of @pixelgaiden.bsky.social. It is the FPGA MiSTer-based Superstation One from @takiudon.bsky.social. The packaging was superb and made me feel like opening my first PS1. I just dialed everything in and it's amazing.
