It’s stupid and destructive, but the whole reason the Israeli army is even in Lebanon (and Gaza and the West Bank) and the people who have been harmed, killed, detained, and generally oppressed are the real issues and concerns for us, for sure.

The children have just run back into the church from children’s at a quiet moment as we get ready to receive communion, and it is delightful to hear their little feet and joyous voices.
Also, someone’s phone is dinging VERY loudly with notifications. Because let us never forget that humanity can be ridiculous even in the holiest of moments. We are an earthy, faulty people called to bring new and miraculous life to the world through the One who gives those dry bones breath.
My husband is preaching on one of my favorite passages of Hebrew scripture - Ezekiel 37:1-14. “Mortal, can these bones live?” An ever-relevant question in this world. How are you seeing dry bones coming to life around you?

When my mom was teaching a colleague of hers completed a suicide - he was probably in his 30’s or 40’s, and thought the same thing, that his family would be better without him. He was so wrong. I think about that tragedy all too often. :(

Yes! Very normal pope content! War is bad - a consistent message of popes and most Christians! This is very much like when my husband or any other pastor has been told, “Stop being political,” when they were preaching on the Beatitudes or other Gospel texts.
And those of us down here are like, “Please stay home, conservatives - I’ll be happy to shop in peace at my favorite grocery store!”
