The Business Librarians Association @blalib.org conference programme is out! And look what's at the bottom of it. This is what I love to see-it's my dream for all conference programmes to include a hashtag & to promote it in advance #BLA26 (Says she, constantly avoiding volunteering to organise...)

Love how pretty much all the advice for dealing with hay fever is basically take a break from life for a bit… I would love to not go outdoors for three months mate but kids, work, health, and actually living life make that a difficult strategy to implement

So apparently if you maintain something with tyres, using metal dust caps is a really, really bad idea.

I get that too! Just sinuses though fortunately. My head is like a barometer or something. I always think I sound like a crank when I mention it to people.

Just trying to process that the new way to find quality information is going to be filtering search results to pre-2022... so many implications, not least of all currency is turned on its head.

So after this absolute disaster where mad fascists cause issues for the whole world cause we’re all reliant on these limited fossil fuels we’re gonna have learned a lesson and all go self sustaining renewable right? Right?

So after returning from LILAC last week full of the joys and possibilities of information literacy, I'm two days into spreadsheet-based drudgery... 😮‍💨

Claude Code leak puts Anthropic on the other side of the copyright battle Anthropic sent a copyright takedown after a segment of the code for Claude Code was leaked online. Anthropic has faced its own copyright issues.

Amazing how quickly AI companies become supporters of copy-right when it comes to their own creation...

It’s time to say goodbye to Sheffield and #LILAC26 - it’s been a great conference with so many highlights! My fave was probably the zine workshops with Penn State Uni - looking forward to making some zines!

Forgot the alt text in my excitement! Photo of me on a tram, photo of a tram pulling up at Castle stop in Sheffield and a photo of the tram lines running through the city to an iron bridge.

Thrilled to be in Sheffield for #Lilac2026 - great to see some familiar faces and meet new folks, and of course (most importantly) ride on trams!

Teachers do so much for so little that it's more expensive to replace them with AI than to keep them.

We're doing the "You’re the 1-to-1 that I want! How we built a successful, in-depth teaching service by cross-skilling our ex
frontline librarians" during parallel 5 on the Tuesday. It would of course be lovely to see you there but totally understand if there's something else more of interest!

This is shocking. School management went behind their librarian's back to remove hundreds of books from shelves (including a wild amount of manga) and their decisions were driven by LLM output.

If there are any librarians out there from RLUK member libraries who like some guidance on putting these principles into practice - get in touch! 📧

The danger to my job from AI isn't that AI can do my job, it's that my job is made even more precarious by the way AI is shaping ideas of the value of work. It can't do my job, but it can be part of convincing people (incorrectly) that my job isn't necessary.
