Lawsuit races to halt Wasaga Beach development as endangered species nears extinction in Ontario Environmental groups have launched a federal court lawsuit seeking urgent action to stop development at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park, warning that critical habitat for the endangered piping plover is ...

Why does Doug Ford hate the Piping Plover? What broke him? No endangered species is safe as long Doug Ford, The Despoiler, is Premier.

I have been talking a lot about PACs lately, in particular, AIPAC buying politicians on both sides of the aisle so they “always” own enough to ensure they get what they want! This picture shows our donation maximums.

“The Elbows Up for Climate campaign launched today with an open letter signed by more than 100 mayors and councillors from coast to coast to coast…”

I applaud this, BUT EVERY ONE OF THOSE MAYORS AND COUNCILLORS better be fighting for CLIMATE ACTION in the land-use & transportation in THEIR cities.

The Unchristians They weep for the pain of the wealthy And rage at the greed of the poor They sing of the glory of Jesus
But worship the weapons of war They scoff at the folly of science
And marvel at wisdom of fools They sneer at the concept of kindness
And cheer everything that is cruel They question the honor of heroes While praising the virtue of thieves They claim all the experts are lying
And shame all the sheep who believe They stand for the freedom of liars
And shout down the censor of truth They pardon the crimes of the wicked
And punish the good without proof They take away food from the hungry And healthcare away from the ill Still claiming to follow the Bible
No matter how many they kill

Ok, Virginia squeaked by. A little too close for my comfort but we got it done, no thanks to that fucking douchebag Peter Thiel and every other right wing liar who came to town with their dark money and their stupid ads and racist postcards. Fuck all those fuckers; they can eat a bag of dicks.

This is good news, and it needed to happen. But also, when Dems are back in power with a trifecta in 2028, they need to end the filibuster and then abolish gerrymandering by passing the Fair Representation Act.

Colby Cosh: Paging Avi Lewis — Canada's communitarian grocer gets food inflation, too The customer-owned Co-Op has been around for a century. It has rising costs that get passed on to consumers, just like everyone else

This was a good read, and a reminder of why Lewis' premise for his "publicly owned" grocery store option is wrong.

Some real chowerheads in Canada have been spreading the idea that Mexico is on the cusp of getting some mythical tariff-free side deal with Trump, insisting that Ottawa needs to go cap-in-hand to avoid getting left out.

One final point here for members of the PC caucus at Queen’s Park to consider: they are being asked this week to vote to make it easier for the premier to make decisions behind closed doors, and to lock those doors even more firmly. Government House Leader Steve Clark has presented a motion to whip the budget measures bill through the legislature without committee hearings, including the section that will eviscerate Ontario’s freedom of information laws. Many in this government find journalists and their insistence on factual answers annoying, fine. But the events of the last few days are a reminder that a culture of insularity and secrecy is bad for governments, and Tories might want to ask whether leaning into that dysfunction is really what they need right now.

Foreign interference in Alberta: "...“deliberately inauthentic” accounts using misleading and exaggerated content to dial up the heat on political tensions... researchers flagged it as a “potential covert influence operation” (gift article) #cdnpoli #ableg www.thestar.com/gift-redeem?...

That's not how that works... Like, at all.

This is proposed by someone wanting to intrusively track employees, or by someone that doesn't understand how user interfaces on PCs actually works...

Or both. And I'm willing to bet on both.

You know how the 🇺🇸USA has been bragging to the rest of us for, like, generations about what geniuses their Founding Fathers were in designing their sacred Constitution?
How they’d done away with tyranny thanks to all those fancy checks and balances?
Well …

This is why no one should be calling the Premier directly to share their opinions. It gives us government by call-in show.

And the idiot in charge doesn't understand why that is a bad thing.

The US wants Canada to lick its boots as far as trade goes, and we should just give them the finger. There's nothing to be gained from boot licking.
