I drew the SEGA characters from ground up on mouse, but I saved my before and after for Gillius Thunderhead. Axe was a bit too hard to get down, so I worked over some sprites from "Golden Axe: The Duel".

Joe, from the first "Street Fighter" game, redone in the "CAPCOM VS SNK" style of pixel art. References include: Joe Higashi, Terry Bogard, Benimaru Nikaido, Kyo Kusanagi and Iori Yagami, to get this working. Color count is around 18, initial sprite was around 23 colors.
Before and after. Original by Sean Altly (@seanaltly.bsky.social), this was a commissioned work done in his own style (which is a derivative of the CAPCOM VS SNK sprite style with his own flare and touches). This style can be observed in his original game works, like "SHADES of Manhattan" and "Last Bout: Styles Will Clash".
"CAPCOM VS SNK" styled Joe from the first "Street Fighter" game. Worked on top of work by @seanaltly.bsky.social, taking it from his own personal style to something closer to how CAPCOM might have handled things like lighting and colors.
