It looks like Sinhala / Pali to me too

Absolutely! I have much warmer feelings about TriPod than study 3027013.01 (TriPod's government name)
Some data from the language Tutrugbu sparked a series of projects with several colleagues that we referred to as Tutrugbu Project, 2 Trug 2 Bu, and Tutrugbu: Tokyo Drift, so it seems like we're drawing from a nearby well of inspiration

I would say both [Mandarin] and Swedish tone are prosodic in that they're both suprasegmental phonological phenomena. Plus Swedish tone is phonemic! (as in [Mandarin]) One main difference is in how many syllables per word bear a tone (Swedish, Japanese, etc. < Mandarin, Vietnamese, etc.)

Come be my colleague!

Out now in Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews!
When studying language in the brain, we often look for things that can be model systems for language (songbirds, artificial grammars, etc.). Here, we flip this on its head and argue that language itself is an excellent model system for cognition 🗣️🧏♀️🧠
Come find my poster on how syntax and lexical probability interact in intracranial EEG today at 10:00 at #AMLaP2025 - poster 106! 🗣️
