That sounds similar to Stockholm. Feel free to send me some examples! Kinda sad I never explored the city while being born relatively nearby 😅

Sad to hear that Graz has bad infrastructure too! Yeah, in Sweden, some bike streets are implemented, and it’s pretty dangerous how drivers behave. Maybe we should do regular bike lanes for now in countries with bad drivers. In this picture, there is definitely a space to do it
One of Brussels’ finest examples… a bike lane that goes straight into the bus station.

The point is that it gives a false sense of security if a car hits you. Yes, wearing it while snow and leaves are on the road is quite smart. I wear it these months. Same as bike lights and reflex. Still, I biked too many times in reflex and had the right of way, yet drivers still failed to stop.
Paris very effectively closes school streets to cars with this one simple trick, a swinging gate. These can be closed at all hours or just when school is in session. Fire trucks swing them open for easy access, as needed.
Good job cleaning the sidewalk and bike lane from leaves! 🍂🚲 @bikesky.social #sweden
New proposal to Solna: safer Gränsgatan (Hagbyvägen) crossing with yield signs + raised surface.

Classic victim blaming
impressive!
🚸✨ Sundbyberg is getting a new play & calm zone in front of a school!
No more chaos from cars-just a safe, people-friendly space where kids can walk, bike & play. 💚

New bike lane on Södermalm in Stockholm!
Not a fan of the traffic sign placed on the bike lane - but otherwise, it looks great.

🚲 Is Zagreb bike-friendly or just pretending?
Painted lanes ≠ real infrastructure.
New blog post is live ! tplace.substack.com/p/zagrebs-bi...

That’s so awesome @gobsmacked.bsky.social ! How is it to work with ‘summer streets’ or however your city calls it? Where do you work? Those are good questions I can send to the municipality!
I think when people say “I’m not a cyclist,” they usually mean they don’t tie their identity to any one mode of transport. Like Not Just Bikes—he’s not a “cyclist” but bikes when it makes sense. It’s more about practicality than disavowing the infrastructure.
Great places make people stay. ✨ When spaces are safe, clean & easy to enjoy, people stay 3x longer—and spend more. It’s not magic. It’s good design.
Design places people don’t want to leave. 🏙️💡 (City at Eye Level)

Horrific!
Tried cycling in Zagreb?
Then you’ve probably risked your life once or twice 😅🚴♀️ The bike lanes are often narrow, if not anorexic.

Hostile pedestrian and bike spaces, it’s clear that the city’s infrastructure still favors cars over people.

Zagreb’s new trams? Not new—just smart second-hand deals from Augsburg. ♻️🚋 Still newer, better, roomier than what we had. And yet... people still complain 😅 #PublicTransport #Zagreb #Trams
In that case, I think it's a perfect answer!
Why not both 🤗
I proposed this bike rack… and it exploded in popularity!

Photo of roadworks in Utrecht (Netherlands), where a cycle path is closed. One of the adjacent car lanes has been separated with concrete blocks and made suitable as a temporary cycle path. At the beginning there is a sign with the text: cyclists via car lane.
Photo of a car lane that temporarily serves as a cycle path. On the right side of the temporary cycle path are fences, behind them the other car lanes and the cycle path are visible, where work is taking place.
Prioritizing active transport takes different forms in the Netherlands. If a cycle path is part of a road reconstruction and therefore has to be closed, a car lane is often opened as a temporary cycle path, so that cyclists can continue their way without detours. 👌🚲
Perfectly reasonable if the train is that expensive! The good question is, why is it that pricey
