This is a layout drawing for a Yellow Rose, a Dragonfly and a Ladybug. The layout drawing is executed in Sanguine Conte’ Crayon. The finished artwork will be matted 8 x 10 format. The paper I’m working on is Strathmore Mixed-Media, very smooth texture, 184# stock, gray toned (I really like that) and is in a glued binding, so very easy to Remove from the pad. 👏👍🤩😃
This is the first pass of colors over the layout drawing. The Bees Wax Medium is mixed in a ratio of 1:1 and you can thin the paint medium mixture with Odorless Turps. The Bees Wax will make the colors deeper and matte in appearance - I really like that. Also, it gives the paint a fuller buttery consistency - that’s really cool to experience. I have been lately looking at a lot of artwork by Alfonse Mucha, J.C. Leyendecker and Frederick Smith. These gentlemen were prominent artists/illustrators of the late 20’s through the 40’s. A big Shout out to Michael, who I have been exchanging wonderful conversations with regarding self portraits done by female artists of this era. Michael you gave me the push I needed to try something new. Thank you so much👍🤩💕❤️😃
Submitted for your approval, a WIP and an experiment/exploration of learning about Oil paint with Cold Wax Medium (Bees Wax). More explanation in the Alt text. #botanicalart #art #artshare #artadventcalendar #fineart #blueskyart #eastcoastkin #sciart
