Extra, aka the aftermath of that chat:

A telephone chat between Ford and Shermie of PW: ALTL. Ford has a w-trim trench coat and a pine tree pin on the collar of his shirt and tie. Shermie is wearing a turtleneck sweater. They are holding their own telephones in separate panels. Ford: "1 So, Shermie... Would it be forbidden to fall in love with a god?" Ford is holding his own quill pen, like he is prepared to write. Shermie has an unprepared poker face.

Shermie is sweating, confused. Shermie: "2 What?" Ford is all flustered with a dumb ah pout on his face. He is gripping onto his own pen. a certain triangle is totally not blurry in the background behind him.

Ford: "3 It's a hypothetical question." He has his eyes closed with a dumb ah smile on his flushed face. He is holding a finger up with his pen. Shermie is very confused/concerned despite a smile on his face. He holds his other right hand up. Shermie: "4 Stanford, what caused ya think of tis' question?"

muppet chibi. Ford: [glasses flash] "Sherman, this is a hypothetical question. Out of sheer curiosity of a scientist." Shermie: [ain't smiling no more] "6 Stanford what the fuck does gods have to do with science. ???"

when you, with a stable relationship with wife & son, are close with your eccentric mad scientist gremlin of a brother… That means ‘hypothetical’ questions for advice on the phone.

A page in Journal 3. Basically, Parallel Fiddleford explaining to Ford on why he is held captive. He tells about a past expedition to another dimension where he went with a team. One security officer of their (Fiddleford & Ford) institute touches hands with his parallel self and boom! Dimension gets all staticky and FF quickly escaped. The Dimension is gone with that poor person.

This rushed comic is based on this canonical point in one of Journal 3's pages, where Ford documents his experience in "A Better World". Apparently, touching your parallel self will absolutely destroy you, other self, and their dimension!
