Monogamy Cosplay For the first time in nearly 20 years, I can see the appeal of monogamy. Keep breathing. Your favourite parasocial polycule isn't going anywhere. But I have got to talk about this. I'm used to doing "monogamy cosplay" when house-hunting - which my polycule is doing right now - or job-hunting, or going through airport security: Talking about being a married lesbian (rather than a polyamourous bisexual).

In-which I do go on about the surprise benefits of "monogamy cosplay" and sustained one-on-one time with a given partner.

Two hooded figures with lamps approach a moonlit, isolated cottage.
A woman answers the door.
We have come for the child, says the hooded figure
So soon? she asks
It is time, says the hooded figure.
The woman is distraught. We should never have got him a library card!
What is done cannot be undone, says the hooded figure
We couldn’t see the harm! We just wanted him to enjoy reading!
For most, it ends there, says the hooded figure, turning away and walking into the wilderness
Oh lord, What have I done! says the woman,
the child walks past her and out into the darkness with them.
Do not cry mother.
I am a writer now.

Put everything in a pot and use an imersion blender to purree it until smooth.
Then heat it through.

We had it over sliced potatoes, broccoli, and a sliced up veggie sausage. Very tasty and satisfying.
Would be great on gnocci. Not sure how it would be on pasta.

New Moon – Flower Moon / Willow Moon Begins I admit, it feels early to be calling this "Flower Moon". My irises and daffodils are barely poking the tips of their leaves above the soil, and none of our tulips have sprouted yet (or they might have, under a heap of leaf litter, but I don't see them yet). The willows are greening at their tips and getting ready to leaf out though, and the flowers - the spring ephemerals and then the flowering trees - will be emerging over the course of this lunar cycle.

Spring is Springing, and I'm getting "get out of your own way" messages again.

King of Coins – Week 19: Ten Percent Better? “What (concrete) thing can you do to make your life better? ~ Deb Castellano ~*~ The card I chose for this prompt is - funilly enough - one that echos an affirmation one of my partners has been asking me to say on the regular. The affirmation is "I'm worthy of the care you give me". From the Light Seer's Tarot, the affirmation associated with this version of the Nine of Earth is "I'm totally worthy of the bliss and abundance I'm about to enjoy".

In-which I whinge about late stage capitalism, and take concrete actions to support magical workings.

I love not using AI. I love looking at art made by human beings, sculpting kaleidoscopic mushrooms out of clay, learning a new skill from a real person, playing with cats, spotting bats silhouetted in a crepuscular sky. Not using AI is very fun.

My photo shows a profile view of a small horse figurine with head to the left, displayed against a dark background. Sculpted from mammoth ivory, the surface is a mottled greyish-earthy-brown colour with a shiny patina. It was once likely pale white in colour. It measures 2.5 cm height, 4.8 cm width, and 0.7 cm depth. The head is gracefully lowered with a long and elegant curving neck, and a convex curved back. The four legs are incomplete. The top of the tail remains. The eyes, nostrils, and mouth are carved as indents.

The ‘Vogelherd Horse’ was excavated in 1931, together with a number of other ivory animal figurines from the Vogelherd Cave, Swabian Jura, Germany. It is the oldest known sculpture of a horse. On display at the Museum of Ancient Cultures, at Hohentübingen Castle, Tübingen, Germany.

Something ancient and wonderful for the weekend!

A tiny horse figurine carved from mammoth ivory about 40,000 years ago!

Imagine the #IceAge artist at work, sitting by the warmth of a fire, creating what is the world’s oldest known figure of a horse!
