Every day plants are working to slow water down - the slower the flow, the greater chance of it reaching the lower ground store, where we need it.
Every day, plants are taking climate action, this is our chance to join them.

Every day, plants - big and small - use water and the energy from the sun to regulate our climate and keep us cool.
Join St Vincent's School in Liverpool on their climate repair journey as they plant a wildflower meadow in their school grounds with Scouse Flowerhouse.

We've been training up the staff in our Climate Cooler Schools, celebrating all that the students have already done with us, looking ahead to all that we've got planned and finally talking about climate friendly changes for their site and if any of those ideas could travel home with them.
We are delighted to be taking part and sharing walks and creative sensory-rich workshops as part of Only Connect this October!

Cover Crops ❇️
Students in our Climate Cooler Schools sowed a cover crop to protect the soil from the elements and to provide structure for the soil. Whilst the flowers are around it's great food for the bees 🐝
Next they'll dig the plants into the soil to add valuable nutrients.

We love intergenerational projects. It's so magic seeing these two generations learning from each other
Width: consider the width of connecting paths, level of use, location and whether it will be one or two-way. A min clear width of 200cm will allow for two-way traffic with no need for passing places.
Boards must be laid at right angles to the direction of travel, otherwise, wheels or mobility canes may become caught between them.
To permit drainage, lay the deck with gaps between the individual boards. The gap between boards should not be greater than 12mm.
Boardwalks should have edging at a minimum of 75mm high that acts as an important wheel stop for wheelchairs and pushchairs, and an indicator for blind and partially sighted people.
Boardwalks and bridges can connect us to nature, but poor design can turn them into barriers. Slippery surfaces, uneven boards, or steep inclines hinder access. Thoughtful design and maintenance ensure safe, inclusive outdoor experiences. 🌿💚
