⤴️ This New York Times article is illustrated with yet another disembodied pregnancy bump, sigh.

#OTD: German astronomer Caroline Herschel (www.infinite-women.com/women/caroli...) is often credited as the 1st woman to discover a comet, 1 August 1786, but Maria Margaretha Kirch (www.infinite-women.com/women/maria-...) beat her by decades, having discovered the "Comet of 1702" on 21 April 1702.

NYT headline that says “Mamdani Endorses Lindsey Boylan, Who Accused Cuomo of Sexual Harassment.” The lede says “the endorsement, in a special election for a city council seat on Manhattan’s West Side, comes as the mayor seeks to build influence within the Council"
First & foremost, @lindseyboylan.bsky.social is more than deserving of this endorsement.
Second & just as important, fuck this headline. Lindsey didn’t accuse Cuomo of harassment. Cuomo harassed Lindsey. Period. She is not an accusor. She is a survivor-advocate. Show some respect. Report the truth.
Men are 2.6x more likely than women to bike to work. Study finds where protected bike lane coverage is higher, women’s cycling rates rise significantly faster than men’s. Where coverage is limited or fragmented, women’s participation drops more sharply.

Dear men: This is a thing. Please watch this video so you can understand why women say they’d choose the bear.
RFK Jr.'s hearing today highlighted his countless conspiracy driven, scientifically unfounded, and even racist rhetoric that drives his decisions on American health. He must go. Visit zurl.co/Iy3bo to tell your Rep to co-sponsor the articles of impeachment against RFK Jr.
Women's networking groups are not a mirror of "boys club" exclusion but a response to it. They don't exclude men; they help women catch up. Thank you @jguynn for including my perspective.

Opening slide Progressing the causal revolution: a case study in causal re-evaluation of applied evolutionary anthropology Sarah Myers (BirthRites MPI-EVA) Sarah Johns (University of Kent)
Closing slide Conclusions • Do a DAG * Be transparent about your assumptions • Don't report odds ratios * Pay attention to measurement error * Be more self-reflecting
Fantastic example of intellectual humility from @drsarahmyers at #ehbea2026, re-evaluating a previously published paper of her own using more robust methods. Advice to the audience: “be more reflective”
A huge amount of this is that there's still an unspoken but heavily enforced social norm that women are obliged to keep men's dirty secrets, whether you consented or not.
The second a man assaults or harasses you, he invokes this unspoken contract.

So...a national socialist...hmm where have I heard that before?
Tl;dr Target will send cops to your house weeks later if they *think* you failed to scan an item at self-checkout. Surveillance culture, corporate greed, and police state all in one.
It’s infuriating when a woman comes forward about a man raping her in his hotel room after drinking and the response is “Why would she go to his room?” “Why would she drink with him?” This is Mike Pence logic. Women should be allowed to hang out with men without expecting they will be raped.
“But why would you drink with him if you thought he was a creep?” Because creepy men are still powerful people in their fields. Because they are still the professional & social contacts we are forced to maintain. Because the same people tell us we’re crazy for thinking a man is creepy to begin with.

Black women are nearly 3 times more likely than white women to die from pregnancy-related complications.
This is unacceptable.
House Democrats are working hard to pass the #Momnibus to save moms’ lives and put an end to the maternal health crisis.
This is not the first time this has happened. Amazon needs to be investigated and heavily regulated. Multiple deaths, peeing in bottles, rare breaks. When is enough enough?
as someone who uses amazon bc rural and disability:
check if the brand or the amazon seller has a web presence off amazon. They often offer their products at the same price or better on their own website where they don't have to pay amazon's fees, and free shipping at some reasonable price point
Sure, there are exceptions, but most people most of the time don't have to use Amazon. You don't need a Prime account. You can choose to give up a little bit of convenience to avoid funding an economy run by people who are OK w/ working people dying on the job & just letting their bodies lay there.
A worker died at an Amazon warehouse in Oregon last week.
For more than an hour, workers were instructed to continue working as the man lay dead.
One worker wanted to help, but a manager told them to “Just turn around and not look. Let’s get back to work," according to @thewesternedge.bsky.social.

We had a #vaccine against #Lyme disease in the 90s that was pulled after a few years bc of ultimately unfounded safety concerns. Now we may get another shot at a vaccine to prevent a potentially debilitating disease that's only increasing today.
