It's understandable, Vonnegut's critique of the Cold War climate that existed during the '50s—he was a prisoner of war during WWII. The wonderful thing about Vonnegut is that he still feels relevant today as much as he did when he was writing.

Released in '51 during the Korean War and the Cold War. "All the King's Horses" is a critique of the nature of war (and the Cold War) that Vonnegut does so well; of course the story is filled with his satirist touch.

I should've featured Vonnegut on here sooner, so I'm correcting that, and I will feature what many call his Magnus Opus, Slaughterhouse Five; but first, The Foster Portfolio pushes you to feel the emotions of the characters and side with them. Vonnegut does this well.

The Foster Portfolio follows a new investment broker who thinks he's advising a client on bonds because of his modest lifestyle. He soon discovers the man is rich and chooses a modest lifestyle. The story focuses on anti-materialism like Fight Club. Vonnegut at his barest.
