ACOG reaffirms that acetaminophen is safe for managing pain and fever during pregnancy. No reputable studies support suggestions like those in HHS’s recent announcement linking acetaminophen use in pregnancy to autism; in fact, high-quality studies show no such risk. https://bit.ly/47Wxc59

This was a fantastic read. I feel like I learned a ton. I love the author's optimism and his focus on not just the outbreaks but what was learned from each one.

Thanks to House of Pod @kavehmd.bsky.social for the recommendation!

On Oct 5 1988, the campus newspaper at Kent State University in Ohio issued an unusual report. Six students had been diagnosed with measles over the prior two weeks. Over the course of a typical year, the student health center generally saw one or two measles cases, making this cluster noteworthy. These six were the earliest sign of a campus outbreak that would last for more than six months and involve 380 cases. Dr. Tara C. Oh, hey. Reading "Booster Shots" by @adamratnermd.bsky.social (highly recommended) and page 129-130 discusses a paper I wrote detailing Kent State's large #measles outbreak in 1989. /1

Measles cases surge to record high since disease was declared eliminated in the US | CNN There have been more measles cases in the US this year than any other since the disease was declared eliminated a quarter-century ago.

The US is setting records!

I'm positive there are many more like this to come.

I'm not happy about it. As a pediatrician I'm scared. Very scared.

We will not stay silent on vaccines, say leaders of five major U.S. medical associations “We cannot and will not gamble with our patients’ health or the health of our communities,” write the presidents of the AAFP, AAP, ACP, ACOG, and IDSA.

The American Academy of Pediatrics joined fellow medical leaders in a new op-ed in @statnews.com with a clear, urgent message: Vaccines work—and they save lives. www.statnews.com/2025/06/26/v...
