Cross-regulation between the nervous system and type 2 immunity The nervous and type 2 immune systems regulate each other via cytokines and neurotransmitters, suggesting previously unidentified therapeutic avenues.

We're now appreciating how the immune and nervous systems communicate across body & brain, and there's still more to explore!

Had a fun time co-writing this with some amazing immunologists and neuroscientists @nickmroz.bsky.social @arimolofskylab.bsky.social @annamolofskylab.bsky.social 😎🧠

This was the last @hhmi.org conference Lilly and Yuh-Nung Jan attended as investigators. They're becoming HHMI emeritus but still run a thriving NIH-funded lab. From cloning the first potassium ion channel (Shaker) to decoding neuronal development, the Jans have made a huge impact.

The Department Of Health And Human Services Cuts 10,000 Jobs The cuts hit multiple agencies, affecting work on HIV, gun violence prevention, vaccines, minority health research, and more.

Thousands of federal health workers woke up on April 1 to find they had been fired or laid off. Scientists and civil servants at the FDA, CDC, and NIH were let go as part of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s pledge to cut jobs at the country’s most important disease-fighting agencies.

This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH

This is one of the best features I have seen on blue sky yet- a custom feed of papers from people you follow. I had to un-follow the various biorxiv channels, as it was dominant, but now I am seeing lots of cool papers from people I follow.

Great work on this feed, @paper-feed.bsky.social team!

Where does TrumpElon think innovation for all their favorite biotech corporations comes from? PCR only exists because somebody was looking for bacteria in hot springs at Yellowstone. I’m just a private practice ophthalmologist who barely understands p values but even I know this shit is important.
