If it's like a Neal Stephenson novel, the opening will be the best thing you've ever heard, followed by way too much time talking out ideas, and an ending that's more of a hard stop than anything else. And this is coming from someone who loves (most of) his work.

Even the fox news comments section is aghast and those dim bulbs sign off on all his other idiocy.
Season 2 of "Dimension 20 on a Bus" was hands down the funniest thing I've seen in years. Almost hurt myself laughing so hard. Kudos to @dropout.tv and @dimension20.dropout.tv for taking away the ick of - *gestures around sadly - all this.
New Corrosion of Conformity album dropped yesterday. It delivers.

"Exciting new position in the private sector" is the new "went to live on a farm upstate" I guess
When I was a youngster, I was on the heavy side. One time, at a family gathering in a too tight, too starchy dress shirt, I was awkward & uncomfortable & sweated uncontrollably as I felt like everyone was pointing out what a fool I was.
Anyway, this must be what it's like to drive a cybertruck.
I just referenced this flick in one of the teams chats at work. Then derailed morning scrum to talk about it. Death blossom!
Listen, the world may be absolute shit right now but on the commute home I finished a book right before my stop and hit up the #library to pick up a couple titles on hold so that's my victory for the day
I wouldn't use AI to help write a story or make any other art but I've found it useful with the IT day job. Not willing to vibe code without also knowing how shit works but that's just common sense (to anyone not in senior management)
New Monolord! Does not suck! In fact, it's the exact opposite of suck!

I will do a shot if offered and will studiously avoid otherwise. Because yuck.

Finished book 12 of 2026 ("Red Country" by Joe Abercrombie) and starting the 13th. There are worse ways of waiting out the last dredges of winter.

To be fair, I had to teach both kids how to sign their names without using chonky block letters but it was also more an exercise in style. "Make it look dope" said the father of the year.
Joe Abercrombie's "First Law" trilogy is good friendly violent fun.
Fanny Jo Stingray?
Levi's discontinued their 569s, which was the style that best fit my thick cyclist legs while letting me still pretend I have the same waist as I did 20 years ago.

Lunch was some leftover bistro steak, a small salad, a piece of crusty bread, and a sumo citrus, which makes me the fanciest of all the lads. Off to get a tweed waistcoat.
When I have to jerk the toaster handle up and the toast launches in the air and I catch it on the first try:
I gave up. Beautiful game, occasionally fun, but felt like a chore overall.
It was one of those movies that made me want to revisit all of PTA's non "Boogie Nights" flicks (that one is a stone cold classic that I've rewatched numerous times) because they could either be better than I remember or not as good.
A small wooden green dragon with orange highlights in a tiny stretch of garden that is bordered by a brick patio.
It goes without saying that Cheeto Jesus is a garbage sack of poisonous shit so I'm not commenting on his latest vileness. Instead, here's Malachite the Dragon, unearthed from the snow.

At the vet with the dog and they're playing A-Ha's "Take on Me." Should I tell them you can swap out the chorus with "Bichon Frisé"?
The Be All End All place for lobster rolls in Boston is typically Neptune Oyster House in the North End. Finally had one there a couple years back and it was indeed both fantastic and expensive. It was also no better than the ones my wife makes for much, much less.
BitBucket managed to lose the bullets when we cherry picked them for the master branch merge
