Data centres uses 32% of Ireland's total electricity supply but pay almost less than half of the residential rate. So we're effectively subsidizing tech giants during a cost of living & energy crisis. Meanwhile this Govt continues to cheerlead their expansion & continue to fail in their obligations.

Is the Minister for Media, Patrick O'Donovan, going to haul the media in every time he disagrees with their coverage of his Government's mismanagement?

It is inappropriate for the Minister to interfere in the independence of media when their reporting does not suit his Government.

@rodericogorman.bsky.social contributed to this article on @thejournal.ie today.

It looks at the effects of removing the carbon tax, and how we’d only end up paying anyway

Ring Road approved, but Galway deserves more than just another road, says Greens’ Murphy | Green Party Responding to the decision of An Comisiún Pleanala (ACP) to grant permission to the Galway ring road, Niall Murphy, Green Party candidate for Galway West, said: “Today, the Galway City Ring Road has been granted permission. Clarity has been given on this project, but Galway deserves more than just a ring road. “The most important thing to do now is to start pushing forward the other transport projects which have been delayed by the Government as the ring road planning process has been ongoing.

The Critical Infrastructure Bill means that projects that definitely will have a climate impact; big energy projects like liquefied natural gas and electricity sucking data centres, these projects will no longer have their climate impact assessed when they're going for planning permission.

Ireland can no longer afford a National Development Plan that merely "aims" for green targets or one that relies on fossil fuels. Green energy independence means that when global conflicts drive up the price of oil and gas, Irish families are protected because their power comes from renewables!

Was the visit to the White House worthwhile? I'm not convinced - yesterday's event has shown that the shamrock ceremony has become a charade where the main aim is appeasement, rather than diplomacy.

I supported the motion this month at Cork city council calling on Government to end discrimination in inheritance tax against childless citizens, single people and their families.
Everyone deserves fairness. Our laws must reflect that.
It’s time for change.

The Shamrock Ceremony suggests Ireland and the U.S. share the same worldview - right now, that simply isn’t true.

The Taoiseach should this year focus on diplomatic events outside of the White House in Washington.

I've been out knocking on doors with the amazing @janetphorner.bsky.social I already knew how effective she is in the council chamber, and I've come to see how hard she works for her constituency. She would make a brilliant representative for Dublin Central!

25+ years derelict. In Dublin City Council ownership since 2019. No funding from the Department of Housing to rebuild.

The two derelict houses on 19 & 21 Connaught Street have been abandoned by the state. They're now structurally compromised and a risk to the neighbouring houses on the terrace.

Statement on Rotunda Hospital Remaining in Parnell Square accompanied by an RTÉ headline Government drops plan to move Rotunda to Connolly Hospital

Statement on Rotunda Hospital Remaining in Parnell Square accompanied by an RTÉ headline Government drops plan to move Rotunda to Connolly Hospital

As a board member of the hospital, I welcome the decision by Government to drop the planned relocation of the Rotunda to Connolly hospital. The Rotunda has been at the heart of Dublin City for over 280 years, and is a key part of the inner city's built and social heritage.

Women deserve quality healthcare, in a hospital that is up to the highest standards. A new planning application must be submitted as soon as possible for the critical care unit expansion, so that mothers and new born babies can receive the care they deserve in an appropriate, fit for purpose setting.

A dark, dramatic political campaign graphic from Green Party NI. The background shows a close-up photograph of Donald Trump in a white USA baseball cap and dark suit, lit in teal-green tones against a near-black background, with a serious, downward expression. In bold white capital letters at the top: “TRUMP’S WAR / NETANYAHU’S WAR / NOT OURS” — with “NOT OURS” in the largest text. To the lower right, in smaller white italic-style text: “A desperate president. A genocidal ally. And a British Prime Minister hiding behind ‘defensive operations’ while British planes fly in a war zone, without a vote, without a mandate, without shame.” The final phrase is in bold. At the bottom centre, the Green Party logo — a stylised leaf above the words “greenparty” in lowercase teal text. Below that, in small white text: “Published & Promoted by Green Party NI, PO Box 369, Bangor, BT20 9FJ.”
