Gosh, thanks. In the original book Graham jokes about the "maid's day off" and then is horrified to learn there is no maid in his future and that they "do for themselves."

If you have Baha'i Friends, wish them Happy Ridvan! It is our Most Great Festival. Which means local elections and delicious baking.
She has a point there!
You would think, but we can't figure out how we did not see this guy at least looking as if he was also watching traffic in order to cross. My only explanation was that perhaps he was standing in the shade? Because we should have seen him step off the curb and the two of us did not.
If you want to read Arthur saying no a dozen different ways, here is the link. archiveofourown.org/works/629859...
One does not expect peds to cross busy four lane roads at places other than intersections with crosswalks and signals. That is true of most of us I believe.
He uses this story to good effect in the past as in, "my king stuck a sword in my chest, what was I to do?"
Eventually he has people begging to hear the story.
Like thar cover!
We can't figure it out, because we didn't see him waiting on the sidewalk on the other side of the four lane road, where there was no crosswalk. We were looking for a break in very busy oncoming traffic. The pedestrian was not ignored, he was completely unexpected and unanticipated.

#TimeTravelAuthors D19 Authority. I dunno, how about a King? Arthur is ordered to be First Traveller to the past. He says no. He refuses the order. He has his reasons. Everything he does in the past is because his king ordered him to, at the point of a sword. This is my all-time favorite chapter.
You would think, which is why we were really shocked and surprised. I'm a cyclist, and I know that cars don't see me, but we had no visual clue that this man would choose to walk across a busy four lane road where there was no crosswalk or pedestrian island.
There was no crosswalk, it was not a corner, we had no expectation of a pedestrian crossing in the middle of the busy road. We did not see him waiting to cross on the other side of a four lane road. I am a cyclist.
We had this happen to us! Exiting a parking lot onto a busy road, looking left for oncoming traffic, saw an break to pull out into the road, and a dude was right in front of the car, crossing in the middle of the road, yelling at us. We could not believe it, there were two of us, we did not see him.
I didn't vote for McCain or Romney, but I wasn't deathly afraid of them either. They could have been decent presidents.
Oh, well! No reason to give anyone dangerous ideas!
In Arthur’s Romance story the marriage proposal is paragraph one, and then we get the chapters working up to it. More fun that way for me.
Episodic is fun because you can take a detour or solve a mystery or highlight a background character. You can also go on forever and have to be careful about that.
Time lines are so hard! Who is where when and how far apart are they? I should have made a chart!
My guess is the city buys, distributes and replaces the bins. When our city did that, it also required all new versions of garbage trucks.
I mean, who would even plumb a new building that way anymore? Graham goes from 1847 to the present day. One thing he insists on after marriage is a London Victorian townhouse so that something feels familiar. The house becomes its own character, which was fun to do across dozens of chapters.
I'm new at writing fiction and fan fiction is forgiving. But, with the novella I'm refining, the same thing happens, scenes that are not chronological and repeated, somewhat, with a different Point of View. Perhaps this is a way to be more three dimensional?
#TimeTravelAuthors D15 Story Structure. I tend to write episodic chapters within the larger story that can stand alone, I hope. I also like to write backwards, the second section of a story takes place first chronologically. This usually evolves. I also like to revisit scenes from a second POV.
Would an ultra modern kitchen?
But, but, I love Sam Neill!
Arthur went through challenging dystopian times with slim choices for feeding his family. He loves any kind of food and will happily order from a food truck. His first tacos in the PNW were a revelation. Although he lives in Canada, I've been careful about regional foods.
It was so good, tzatziki sauce and everything. It was so piled on you could feed the whole family with one pizza, so many olives. It's like will never be seen again.
If it still existed gyros pizza, which was a thing a long time ago on the North Shore of Chicago.
Friends will come if they know there will be cake.
