#TheDragonblood: The story starts with a game of D&D.

#InReverse: I don't think I have any, yet. Maybe Harriet and Meg have devised a game that can be played both forward and in reverse, but I don't know what sort of game that would be.

#TimeTravelAuthors 5: games

Maureen is a graphic novelist and her series is a LitRPG where three friends find themselves transported into their favorite video game.

Fun fact: this is a series I came up with in high school! I scrapped it, but including it in JLTFT was a way for it to live on.

I've always liked games as a framework to build a conversation. Lonely Ship has a few scenes where characters playing a game argue about something important.

But I don't want to use real-world games and I don't want to invent anything! ... 🧵

Games in Titanic Voyage? Besides Rocky playing pranks on Liam, there's several references to a love sim with minigames, "Heart's Skirmish." Rocky plays it and later gifts it to Liam. A trad publishing editor would have axed it, I'm sure.

I'm thinking his caffeinated beverage of choice would be a hot chocolate, though. (1/3)

Beryl Blue loves coffee, which is in short supply in the future, so she's stuck w/a fake brew called triple-synth:

"I took a sip, followed by a grimace. It tasted like caffeinated mud. It always tasted like that. So why did my taste buds hope this time it'd be different?"

Dave canonically only tried coffee after escaping from Earth. So, in my quoted story, he has a soft spot for awful black coffee from coffee dispensers and soda.

I also have Homura drinking hot instant coffee and cold energy drinks.
