Amazing discovery! So what about #redox chemistry in condensates?
New from us in @pnas.org :
We considered the limits of condensate diversity, and engineered DNA droplets to form 9 distinct, homotypic, coexisting phases. Very hard to do this except with nucleic acids. Probably you can make more than 9. (1/3)
The new publication "Stages of biomolecular condensate formation in pro-β-carboxysome assembly" from the Manajit Hayer-Hartl team is out at Nature Plants!

Plants use cell-surface and intracellular receptors that collaborate to detect pathogens🦠. We discovered that a key #ubiquitin recognition event recruits both receptor types into an unexpected dual receptor complex that boost the translation of defence proteins and establishes robust #PlantImmunity👇🏾
This is the most generalizable work I think I have every done. RNAseq is everywhere these days, and most analysis pipelines have a step for filtering out genes that are expected to be too noisy to interpret. We came up with a strategy to filter based on variance, rather than expression level.
📢Job alert📢
