Part of the issue/disagreement is that so many big PS3 and Xbox360 games are still 'current' e.g. GTA V and The Last of Us. Also Minecraft is that sort of era.

Thanks! A bit over a year off and on.
A listing from the section Open Forum section of Popular Computing Weekly. The title is AV Timer on Vic-20, the description explains how the program is used in the process of developing film.
The conclusion of the listing with the caption A/V Timer by Geoff Crowther
I've known for some time that in 1983 my Dad got a listing published in one of the computer magazines and I've been trying to track it down. Today I've finally found it! Popular Computing Weekly Volume 2, Number 8 for the week 24th February to 2nd March 1983. It combines two of his main hobbies.
A quick heads up; The UK government is currently holding a consultation on the Online Safety Act. The consultation lasts until the end of next month.
Please fill it out if you live in the UK and/or share it around to get more eyes on it.

When come back, bring pie!
Remembering back in the pre-YouTube era of 2003 when the popularity of web animations like Weebl & Bob could occasionally lead to bigger things… like an ad for Anchor spread!
(To this day I’ve been known to mumble “incredible” when seeing the product on store shelves… 😅)
New blog post - looking at the power circuits of the @futurewas8bit.bsky.social SX-20, a portable SX-64 style VIC20.

The SX-20 is better than the SX-64 not only because it contains a VIC20, but it is also fully portable with internal batteries.
A black Commodore calculator model SR4148 (I think, last digit is hard to read)
Got myself a Commodore!
The Bring'n'Byte sale in progress in the main hall
My purchases: a 6502 book by Rodnay Zaks, a couple of Commodore Format cover tapes and an empty box for Jordan Vs Bird that was thrown in for free 😀
I'm at @computinghistory.org.uk for Bring'n'Byte, lots of tempting deals but I'm keeping it low budget for now.
Bring ‘n’ Byte is a go! 🤩♻️📺
Come down and say hi, and see what bargains you can find!

On my way with many low cost items to rehome. You should negotiate hard because I need space more than I need money.
Had this pencilled in my calendar, but with diesel the cost it is, it’d cost me an extra £20 or so in fuel. If you’re in the area though, and are into retro stuff, would recommend.
I'm lucky that I live nearby. The CCH is one of the reasons I now live in Cambridge, it's where @angel-mhor.bsky.social and I had our first date! ♥️
For #RandomGameSaturday here is a game I picked up last week at #OLL26 Tetris Ultimate. My friends at uni had an original Gameboy and I frequently called in there on the way to lectures to play Tetris (and then not go to the lectures), so I felt it's a game I should have for my 3DS.
I only discovered it this year, I've been really enjoying it. Not just the post of the week but also the occasional dive through the archives. I think I first discovered it when I was searching for info on Uridium.
Bring big imaginations and big keyboards for the latest Retro eXo creation, a breakthrough in modern game dev for the original Sony PlayStation, and new life for old DV camcorders. Plus a holiday photo, a birthday and more in This Week in Retro episode 264!

It's 2026 and Mastertronic is looking for new games to publish. Maybe you have what it takes...
Post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet.

I'm one of the exhibitors again and am working on an update to my "games software development through the ages" exhibit, with some new hardware and software to show. It's a really good event, with plenty of variety, and the venue is terrific. As ever, thanks to @shortcircuit.org.uk for organising.
I once played a game at EGX where I started off walking the wrong way. Walked slowly through eight or so mostly empty screens before the developer said to me: "There's nothing in that direction, you should go the other way"
As far as I know we've never met but I'll be there, hope you can make it 😀
Retrofest 2026 is taking shape - we now have an exhibitors list and details for most of the exhibitors, including 13 who'll be new to the event! www.retrofest.uk/whowhat.php

Is anyone near #Norwich #UK and able to do a wellness check on Damien Farnham? He was apparently contemplating suicide and has recently deleted his entire online presence and now seems to be unreachable.

Raise your hand if you’re submitting to #AdvX26! Exhibitor & speaker submissions are open at adventurexpo.org.

The Way of the Exploding Fist was at the forefront of a home computer fighting game trend. Rather a sequel on the same lines, Gregg Barnett and Beam made something weirder and more atmospheric (and put the conventional one on the B-side).
