Trans Metal Comp;
Hi!! We're putting together a compilation album comprised of metal tracks composed by trans musicians and are currently seeking submissions! The album will be released on Bandcamp on June 26th and all sales will go directly towards individual trans folks' fundraising campaigns. We had initially planned on donating to an organization, but the fact of the matter is that right now, trans people need money, and the best way to help is by giving directly. We will be as transparent as possible with where the money goes and boost who we can. If that sounds good to you, read the guidelines below and come headbang along with us! \m/

ALL subgenres of metal permitted. Power metal, deathcore, crossover thrash; as long as it's some flavor of metal or has clear metal crossover influence to it, we'll likely accept it. Whether or not specific submissions are accepted is at the sole discretion of the organizers. If we end up not using your work for any reason, don't feel discouraged! It likely just didn't fit the vibe we're going for.
NO tracks made with or containing anything regurgitated by "generative" AI
NO Nazi shit. If you're trans and also a Nazi for some fuckass reason, look elsewhere. And get your damn life together.
NO cis-led solo acts. If your band or project has cis people involved, that's fine!! As long as at least one member is trans and plays an active role in the performance and/or songwriting, feel free to submit.
Up to TWO tracks per artist; up to two songs under the same name will be accepted. If you have or are involved with multiple projects, as long as they're distinct from each other and under different names, feel free to submit up to two tracks for each.
You must own the rights to the music you submit; any tracks submitted must be owned by you or with the permission of whoever does, and you must personally be involved in the track in either its composition, performance on the recording, or…

Have a break. Have 12 Tonnes of KitKat.

Remember, kids, Nestle is literally the company who literally told African mothers that their breast milk wasn't good enough in order to sell more formula.

Don't be a snitch, now.

A white square with the words NaPoWriMo 2026 written across the top. The text beneath it reads “Find, borrow, or buy from a charity shop an old book on a specialist subject – Show Cats, The Art of Rowing, Flora of the Tundra – that kind of thing. Steal this idiosyncratic language. Take phrases out of context or splice them together to see what happens. Remember to credit sources", followed by the name Lucy Tunstall. Along the bottom of the square is an illustration of a series of books on a shelf. On the right hand side is a spiky black circle with the words Prompt #5 written in it. Beneath the shelf are the words 'Theme: Experiments in Form'.

I have the best friends.

I was so scared today was gonna be bad. Really bad.

It wasn’t, but I didn’t have to face it alone. I had a lift, and companionship, and the kind of support that holds your hand and possibly makes others wonder what on earth this friendship is. What more could I want?

I am a permanently exhausted diurnal biphasic sleep Person. When I wake in the night and get up, I see my more nocturnal friends doing their thang. I feel like im shuffling past them to go to the bathroom or get a drink like we did with our folks at home. I also have a sincere wish to kiss their

A slower year in terms of “output” though that’s never the point. It’s been a weird year that started in difficulty and is ending in burnout territory once again. Just. Keep. Writing.

Tagging as always for completeness: @rickdove.bsky.social (❤️❤️)

I’m pretty happy. I’ve also spent a lot of time

The count is in.
As is customary, I have tallied what’s written and read. It is as ever - a bit rough.
Poems complete: 51
Starts: 28
Workshops attended: 63 including approx 49 write ins.
Open mics: 30-35 (including the one I run!)
1 headline, 1 ‘alf end, 1 festival set.
2 book launches. 1 book.

Spent.
A decent Christmas that saw the other members of my family beside me at church, a lovely dinner and silly games.
Grateful to be home, where it’s safe to be yourself and be wobbly if you need to be.

trip - truly NOT. Mainly to explain. Possibly to myself. Rejected is my default position. It’s safer to be prepared, you see. For the inevitable time I fuxk up and lose someone because I was…too something or other, probably.

- my brain goes straight to the idea that I must have done something wrong. There’s concrete reasoning in my history (it absolutely has happened) but it leaves me a mess in the corner. I haven’t solved all of this yet and I am working on it. Just know this is where I go - not to give you a guilt

RSD is an absolute kick in the gut. I haven’t heard from someone I chat to on a daily basis for two days. Unusual. Yes, I’ve messaged. No reply.

My default state when this happens is that you no longer want to talk to me. No matter how I talk to myself about how life is life and maybe they are ill

A partial selfie of Bees, wearing a black t shirt with lettering on it in blue, white and pink that says Gender Affirming Care Saves Lives on it. But it’s a selfie so it’s backwards. Sorry. T shirt by Stevie Bees.

Timely thread from Jay because I’m about to head to the gp to find out WTF is going on with my body (which has been on HRT for almost 3 years and might be “symptomatic” again).

Kids, it’s not hard. Gender affirming care saves lives. All lives that need it.
