Next up on my tour of #canadianauthors is Doug Jordan’s “The Treasure of Stella Bay!”

Based on Amherst Island not far from Kingston, I’ve driven past the ferry to the island plenty of times but have never taken it! Now I’ll have to for sure!

Okay! Finished @authorandie.bsky.social ‘s The Mermaids Wrath and - WOW! What a wonderful, engaging novel! Andie, your characters have depth, your action scenes are engaging, the love scenes… 🫣. And through it all runs the messaging of how much damage we’re causing the oceans & hope for the future!

A double rainbow graphic. Photograph of a smiling Gabriel Hargrave with short salt and pepper hair. He is wearing rectangular glasses and a dark gray top. Book covers: The Orchid and the Lion - two silhouettes at a bar, one with a bob hairstyle sits on a barstool holding up a glass for the other, who is pouring a blue liquid into it. The Lion and the Dahlia - two silhouettes look towards each other as Jupiter fills up the rest of the image. It Happened One Light - three silhouettes, one sitting down looking fed up with a hand to their face, the second is a curvy figure, standing with their hands on their hips and wearing a short dress, the third is a typical Grim Reaper with a scythe. The colourful logo for Weeknight Writers is in the bottom right corner. Website https://gabrielhargravewrites.carrd.co/

This year I signed up for the Pride & Remembrance Run 🌈🌈. I can’t attend in person, but big thanks to my friends who were able to make it out to our 5k replacement!

All the more important as the people full of hate continue to be given loudspeakers and platforms to spew their vitriol.

Memory Is Shaped By The Music We Listen To Music therapy can be used in memory recall, but which music works best? A new study found that our emotional response to music affects what we remember.

Emotional music makes it easier to remember, but whether we remember details depends on how strong that emotion is. 🧪 #scicomm www.forbes.com/sites/evaams...

I loved it. There are definitely some lulls in the middle books, but the ending for me was unlike any I had read at the time and sort of wrapped the whole series up perfectly. I’ve been debating rereading.

This book sounds awesome! Might make it onto the reading list next!!

To everyone who's thought that they're abnormal for being gay, you're not. To everyone who's thought no one loves them, I love you, and to anyone who's thought life's not worth living because you love the wrong gender, it is - and it can be beautiful! & I'm here for you if you ever need to talk.

It's easy to think it's a problem of the past & the gays should just get over it. But did you know that here in Canada last year, 77% of 2SLGBTQ+ youth were physically or verbally bullied, and that 27% thought it might be better to take their life because they think no one in the world loves them?
