I have friends who have been sent them (not from this guy, as far as I know) and from their descriptions It's like the sexual equivalent of "watch me dive! Are you looking? I'm going to- watch me! Are you looking? YOU WEREN'T WATCHING!" but wordlessly expressed through too much intense eye contact.

Damn, they are *terrified* of being swept back into power on an anti-corporate mandate that they are fatally allergic to.

Haha, I'll definitely be noticing every instance from now on, so I'll let you know when I have instances for the collection!

I'd be interested to see if it's a form of institutional hedging? Like, if it's a pundit practice rather than an everyday practice (unless it has seeped in from punditry). Because the difference with pluralizing is you then imply any missed examples that commenters may (will) come back at you with.

Dude's posture is "Nosferatu, 85% of the way up" and it confuses me every time.

I've seen lots of instances of animals on the field, but I don't think I've ever seen one where the ruling was to just continue play.

"several of those [AI] models now meet or exceed human baselines on PhD-level science questions"
I would consider a core aspect of anything "PhD-level" to be one's ability to *conceive* of a novel question to be answering. That's why we have to write and defend a dissertation, not take an exam.

Trump: We're winning. We're winning, and we're winning so much. So much more than- because, JD? Is JD here?
Vance: Next to you Mr. President.
Trump: If we can find JD, he just got- it's very rare, an executive commendation from The Pope. Where is-
Vance: (holding back tears) Sir- uh, no.

The trending topics list from today when it was topped by "Godzilla" followed by "Earth's Habitat"

Apparently it's because a Godzilla trailer is releasing today. But, for just a moment, I had to wonder.

A throughline of so many of my 90's Nickelodeon shows (Rocko's Modern Life, Secret Life of Alex Mack, Pete & Pete, etc) was "corporations are evil, they do not respect you, they will never love you, everything they say is a trick", which has always made Disney Adults especially fascinating to me.

My favorite is when you pull on the thread of credible evidence and it's like "well a psychic in the 1970s used remote viewing to see inside an underground base where-" and, okay, let me stop you right there. The alien stuff is so often resting on pillars of lonely grifters claiming magic powers.

I am not a cybersecurity expert, but I've used linux for 20 yrs and have seen many headlines about catastrophic security flaws that are like "if someone got physical access to your machine they could-" as though someone would be touching my computer w/o me perching on their shoulder like a parrot.
