We shared details of the pledges which emphasized that energy should be a public good and all households supported through a fair transition to renewable energy. The meeting concluded with The Minister committing to continue to work with CoPower to further this vision 👍
In our meeting, which included a delegation of representatives from CoPower member organisations, we discussed the strong community support for our cooperative's unique non-profit approach to energy ⚡ whereby the community supports one-another for the benefit of people and the planet 🌱
🏛️ Today we handed our 1,000 community pledges booklet (pictured) over to Hon Lily D'Ambrosio, Victorian Minister for Climate Action, Energy and Resources, and the State Electricity Commission in our meeting with her at Victorian Parliament House.

This is especially true given we have the technology and ability to expand clean and affordable renewable energy projects that benefit people and planet alike.

We believe it’s completely wrong to open up new areas for petroleum or other dirty fossil fuels during the climate crisis and the cost of living crisis and therefore shouldn't go ahead ❌

The survey consists of only 3 questions and asks how the release of the areas (The Bay of Islands and Gippsland) may impact you, the community or the environment, and also asks if you have any ideas that would minimise the impact.

We acknowledge that the harms and injustices of colonialism and racism are still felt by First Nations people today. We believe that financially contributing towards organisations that work to right these wrongs are tangible steps that we can - and should take ✊ 2/3
We are proud to have contributed 1% of our total revenue over the 2024 financial year to Pay the Rent Grassroots Collective that then transfers this money to Indigenous People and communities for the First Nations People’s self-determination, economic independence and for welfare 1/3
