Agree very much. But I think it takes building up and organising for each trust developing their SW identity and then coming together with a stronger collective voice.

This is very true! And it’s an effort to battle against that. We’re trying to strengthen our collective voice to make change happen.
West London NHS Trust posted a great article re 1 of our lovely FSWs, where he tells his story of joining the trust and having life changing support from our Access to Work Team. He’s thriving at work and we’re benefitting from his great social work skills! #InternationalDayofPersonswithDisabilities
This is such a good question that our trust social work leaders were pondering yesterday. @ WLNHST were ensuring our Social Work strategy addresses the unique role SWs have in diff health settings. Short answer, you have to build it in.

Hi. I'm new here. Latest book for all interested in social justice in social work
For anyone who might be interested, my latest journal article is out now. It's on social workers' sensemaking and the team as secure base. It's open access and will hopefully be of interest to practitioners as well as academics. #AcademicSky #SocialWorkSky

Another great article that underlines the space to reflect with our peers. Human connections are important.
Agree with so much of this! Particularly SWs buying into this myth. I do what I can to promote the amazing work and relationships that SWs form. The work can be hard, but we get to be part of some journeys that families, carers and people value greatly.
I think you often find this in teams that don’t feel supported by Théo orgs so maybe it’s about providing a safe culture.
Some of my social work friendships are over 20 years old. It’s so valuable to wellbeing. I’ve also seen how in dysfunctional teams these friendships can become toxic cliques. How can we get this right?

A lot of parallels in forensic mental health settings and indeed meantal health admissions. Powerful lived experience here. www.bbc.com/news/article...
Very British workplace translation guide What everything said in the office really means: 1 "Could do." Nope. 2 "I'll have a look in a sec." Please go away. 3 "I'll sort it out tomorrow." I'll forget about it forever. 4 "We've had a few teething problems." It's been a bloody nightmare. 5 "Let's agree to disagree." You're wrong but I'm so tired. 6 "What have you got on at the minute?" Prepare for your workload to triple. 7 "I'll see what I can do." You're on your own. 8 "It's the next thing on my list." I don't even have a list. 9 "Sorry, could you just clarify something?" What the hell are you drivelling on about? 10 "I have had better days." These have been, without exception, the worst 24 hours of my life.
