What a difference a few miles makes!
Looking at the book I’m now needing a Feline Moth to hop over from the Channel Islands. That would be nice.Unlikely.

The Puss Moth is only my second ever which was very exciting. So cold I really was expecting a completely empty trap-which it practically was-though the best moths were lurking about.

Did find one once a few years ago.
Looks good to me.

Is this one of the Parornix species or is it something else?
Maybe just repost rather than cut and paste ? 🤔

Another clear cool night but…
Panolis flammea. Pine Beauty
Mrs S wasn’t that appreciative of the mission on realising that the trap will be accompanying us around the NC500 and along the Romantic road in Germany. Unsure why she seemed surprised? Perhaps I should invest in something small? LepiLed perhaps 🤔
Update. Now up to 53 so last year’s end of April total of 61 looks very doable.
May need to come back again in a few years. Always more you could do wherever you go.
I’ve only ever caught one once before and that was when we visited this same area of Kent four years ago. Never at home either.

That’s a shame. I wouldn’t give up hope though as I’ve caught it at home and my garden is quite suburban too. No heather this side of the Downs either. There isn’t a pheromone lure?Unfortunately my 6th instar caterpillar didn’t make it. A bit sad after the effort I made raising it from an egg☹️
Genuine question- is the adult not a possibility where you are or would you say you have just been unlucky with this species?

It will be interesting to see if the technically more sophisticated MK II actually catches any better than the MK I version. My first homemade one did pretty well. Was pretty heavy.

Orthosia miniosa. Blossom Underwing.
Very chilly night but the wind has dropped.
You probably wouldn’t be ordering one though 🤔
Definitely going to need a bigger freezer when you see the list of lures you could find yourself needing. #TeamMoth
Personally having moved here from the other place I find myself able to screen my new followers a little and if they don’t share the same interests at all then they get blocked. I don’t follow others that don’t do moths either. Works for me. 🤷♂️
