Please take the time to read this thread. It’s an important one that might relate to many of us Spoonies. #SpoonieAuthChat

I love working with supportive publishers, but I also felt like having an adventure with @bgordonauthor.bsky.social. Having a micropress means we control the schedule, which is what my disability needs right now. And I get to pub my space-opera romcom called Hot Wings and Sauciness! #SpoonieAuthChat
Okay, let me change things to be more upbeat. Indie authors, would you mind sharing which indie bookstores have been great to work with? Have they let you do signings or host launch events? #WriteSky
It’s official: @taliacjohnson.bsky.social and I will be special guests with Ed Greenwood at CollingWord 2026! Talia and I will be doing a workshop called, “What to Consider When Creating and Submitting to Anthologies.” Registration’s open now! www.collingwoodpubliclibrary.ca/what-s-happe... #CanLit
I call my blood pressure med Irby!
And if I forget the title of a show or movie, sometimes my nickname overrides them forever. With apologies to Tolkien, I called the Lord of the Rings film series “The Dishy King Movies.” (Well, am I wrong though?) 2/2
DAY 21 OF MAKING YOU AWARE
I nickname so many things, it’s unreal. It began with the cats on my street as a kid. Today, I call all chipmunks Éamon, regardless of their gender. Don’t ask me why.
I assign names to plants, my rollator, people in the neighbourhood I am too shy to get to know… 1/2
It’s going to be hard for me to decide who to vote for!
I didn’t earn a Prix Aurora Award nomination this time BUT WHO CARES? Look at this incredible ballot! Holy moly, each category is STACKED!

Hi! I’m Cait (pronounced like Cat). I’m now an indie author who founded a micropress with @bgordonauthor.bsky.social! My works have disability and queer rep, are often spec fic, and probably mention cake. My first work I indie pubbed just earned three Indieverse Awards nominations! #SpoonieAuthChat
Thank you!
Right?
I’ve finally settled on abrosexual, means fluid. Abro also means graceful. The pride flag kinda has watermelon colours. So, I sometimes just say I am a graceful melon. 2/2
DAY 20 OF MAKING YOU AWARE
My sexual orientation is swirly. It’s not uncommon for autistic folks to have a fluid gender or sexual orientation. While my gender is fixed (cis woman), my sexual orientation is more of a paragraph. 1/2
I think one of the most freeing things I’ve learned is to just completely ignore people who choose to be miserable. Delete, block, move on.
I know! I picked it up there at the Dreamscape table!
It’s been an interesting weekend in Toronto. The weather was…
…everything. 😳
My name badge and lanyard for the Toronto Indie Author Conference
Wow! What an amazing weekend. Still so very impressed by everyone and everything at the Toronto Indie Author Conference.
I’m wearing a pink top and grey pants and a blue lanyard. And I’m sitting in my mobility device.
Noola (my rollator) and I are taking a break at the Toronto Indie Author Conference!
DAY 19 OF MAKING YOU AWARE
Please, unless you have snacks and have already peed, don’t ask me about any subject I am really interested in.
You still wanna?
Hm. Better get a pillow and blankie too.
Oh yes! All kinds of sensory things like that are an issue for me!
The right pyjamas are just everything!!!
I think you’d like it!
Bruce and I are sitting at our table and smiling into the camera
Wow! Bruce and I are so impressed with how polished and professional the Toronto Indie Author Conference is. So much hard work went into it, and the first day of talks and panels was excellent.
This just underscores that indie isn’t less than.
Looking forward to tomorrow!

Already learning things!
DAY 18 OF MAKING YOU AWARE
Hell and paradise are defined by how certain materials feel against my skin.
Thanks!
Thanks so much!!!
Thank you!!!
Speculative Shorts Earns Three 2026 Indieverse Awards
Speculative Shorts is my first work that has been nominated more than once by the same awards organization. And it’s the second time in my career that one of the categories is Disability Representation. I am so honoured and over the moon.
