Truly remarkable that an 82 year old woman in Virginia is such a more effective politician than the literal Democratic house and senate leaders.

Has anyone else had an explosion of linkedin "friend" requests in the past two weeks? I don't post there, and am a relative nobody, but I've had ~3 requests per day for about 10 straight days. Only one has been from someone I know or have heard of. Some sort of algorithm change?
He's incredible. Need a Democrat win in the governor's race in 2026.
Not the most important part of this picture, but is that Tiffany Trump? I thought Donald had forgotten about her.
It's a shame it's only possible to cancel a subscription once, because it sure would feel good to do again.
What's the awful almost-typo you frequently almost-do, but catch before sending that email?
Mine is typing "busy" but accidentally hitting the "t" next to the "y" to make it "busty" (e.g. "It's been a busty week").
This is such an embarrassing time to be an American. Every headline worse than the one before it. Worse of all, this was an easily predictable result of electing Trump.

If it helps enhance the happiness of the moment, Stephen Miller went to Duke.
Haha and the Midwest region still has a live game at 12:45AM for those of us on the east coast. Woof.

Alternate headline: Republican justices seem skeptical of allowing people to vote on or before Election Day.
This is why people hate Duke basketball. Regardless of the skill disparity, opposing teams of lesser name cache are routinely just not allowed to try to win against them in March Madness due to call disparities.
There's a reason my bracket is called "2015 Championship Truther". ๐
Every #MarchMadness:
CBS: Yo, for your viewing pleasure, for the next minute we're going to switch to the most random camera angle possible, where you can't tell what happens and have no depth perception. And we'll do it at random a few more times this game! Enjoy!
The wind was quite wild! I didn't post about it here because it wasn't as record worthy (though Ticonderoga set all-time wind speed records). A number of @nysmesonet.org sites observed a gust/direction combo that either hadn't been observed before (purple) or last happened many many days ago.
Same here! We have a second story bedroom that faces west, and has decent exposure. When the cold front hit around 1230, it felt/sounded like we were being attacked. Very impressive.
By some metrics this is the most impressive cold front in
@nysmesonet.org history. The stations in red set their all-time biggest 1-hour temperature drop, becoming the #1 event day (+ the orange just after 1AM). Plus, the largest 1 hour pressure rise in history, of 9.7mb occurred. #nywx
The cold front that swept across NY yesterday afternoon & evening was extremely impressive. This animation of 3-hour @nysmesonet.org temperature change highlights the pre-frontal warm-up followed by the dramatic cool-down, where some locations dropped 30F+ in 3 hours! #nywx
I was told by reliable internet people that he only relayed NWS products, not created his own. So surely, there was a "tornado emergency" issued by NWS, correct?
Those for-profit phone calls are going to go just great if this counts as "NWS Confirms".
<narrator: it was not>
I spent an hour this morning going through tabs on my browser, such that if I maximize the window AND hook up my laptop to a larger monitor, all the tabs fit on the screen. #springcleaning
Thought provoking thread here. Regardless of your position, probabilistic intentions + deterministic outcomes are a messy combo.
Also, an opportunity to "brag": Ethan is one of our meteorologists at the @nyswrcc.bsky.social. I love that we have people this passionate about weather communication.
With melting snow and ice, alongside some rain and warming temperatures, we're seeing numerous river rises leading to some flooding.
Did you know our website has a community stats page (nyswrcc.org/community-stats)?
There's ~168K people and ~63K residential buildings in a flood warning in NY.
How often does a road team win when their opponent has more offensive rebounds than you have defensive rebounds, AND they hit 44% from 3? Has to be quite rare, right?
An easy way to alter the implication of a story is improper use of the passive voice (vs active voice). Once you see it, you can't unsee it. There's been countless examples from the Israel-Palestinian war.
In this @nytimes.com example, "Slurs" should have no agency. They exist, but they can't act.
Fun with @nysmesonet.org data + topography:
Today we saw an unusual pattern where temperatures warmed 20-30F in just 3 hours as of 11AM, confined exclusively to the Adirondacks, with basically no change elsewhere. By 2PM, this resulted in the #ADK being much warmer than nearby lower locations.
Probably not helpful, but I calculate daily for NY, here: operations.nysmesonet.org/~nbassill/ar...
I told them it was also a snowicane, but I guess that didn't make it.
If NY really does set 4 (!) new county snowfall records, that is an *extremely* rare occurrence!
