Our EMBO workshop is now live. Visit us in Bath this summer for a two week workshop designed to help you study host-microbe interactions in the zebrafish, and develop the bioinformatics skills needed to analyse the complex data sets that arise from microbiomic studies.

Here's a taste of something we're cooking up in Bath - a computational and experimental microbiomics workshop that includes hands on training using fish to study host-microbe interactions. Sign up to be notified when the website is launched.
Announcing the 2026 MSE Speaker Series!
MSE is back with another stellar lineup for the virtual seminar series, which will be hosted monthly through 2026. After each seminar, we will host an informal virtual social hour, in which attendees can chat with the speaker and MSE members about research,…
I’ve been loving all the various new sequencing services they’ve been adding, it’s been great!
Collaborative literature review published on “Clinical translation of microbiome research”!
A large-scale literature review to which I contributed was recently published in Nature Medicine!! Led by Dr. Jack Gilbert, a team of microbiome experts put together this paper exploring how microbiome…
Me and a few of my mates got together and wrote a review on the current state of clinical translation of microbiome research.
A great summary of the state of the art for microbiome research.

Cartoon remix I drew of the dog in a burning building meme featuring two zebrafish sitting at a table drinking coffee with a parasitic worm in the background. The room is filling with flames and smoke. One fish says "This is fine". The meme represents how we are ignoring the growing stressors of climate change.
I'm very excited to share our preprint on @biorxiv-microbiol.bsky.social demonstrating environmentally contingent gut microbiota reponses to intestinal infection in #Zebrafish. 🧵 1/12

Super excited and honored to have gotten the notice of Award for my NIDDK NRSA F31! Hopefully lots of cool science coming! 🐟🧬🔬👨🔬 #zebrafish #diabetes #F31
I made the "First 50" Guest List on the Matters Microbial Podcast hosted by @markowenmartin.bsky.social!!! Mark has interviewed many excellent researchers this year, check out the episodes: www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...
Magenta cells on a black background showing the exocrine pancreatic cells of a larval zebrafish pancreas
Since bsky is growing a lot and I'm new, I thought I would introduce myself using a #FluorescenceFriday! I'm Patrick Horve and I'm a PhD student studying beta cell development and the role the microbiome plays in beta cell proliferation and metabolic maturation! Here's a larval zebrafish pancreas!
Scoliosis is a common condition in which the spine curves to the side and rotates, often onsetting during adolescence.
In our lab, we generate zebrafish with scoliosis-like spinal curves to try to understand the causes of this disease.
Hi everyone! I'm trying to put together a list of Microbes and Social Equity researchers but I'm having a hard time finding folks on here. Please comment if you're in MSE and would like to join this list :)
