Building on our previous work in cassava, I'm excited to share our pre-print "Evidence that variation in DNA polymerase delta subunit 1 underlies geminivirus resistance in diverse plants"

Proposed model for G-protein-regulated nodule formation in soybean. Symbiosis receptor-like kinase (SymRK) phosphorylates the regulator of G-protein signaling (RGS) to accelerate the GTPase activity of the Gα protein. Phosphorylation of RGS proteins by Nod factor receptor 1 (NFR1) and SymRK increases its activity to efficiently decrease the amount of active Gα, which is a negative regulator of root nodule symbiosis (RNS). Inhibition of this negative regulator is required for successful nodulation. Black arrows and connections show data from the current work. Gray arrows and connections represent previously established pathways. Phosphorylation reactions are marked with an encircled P.
Unlocking the secrets of soybean nodulation! 🌱 This research shows how SymRK and NFR1 receptors work together to fine-tune G-protein signaling, activating RGS proteins and boosting nodule formation.

Nice!!! What days are you going to be there? I get in on Sunday
While I sit on the bus here is a thread on why gen AI (3 chat bots in a trench coat) isn't just another technology. It exploits people's labor and poisons the environment 🧵
We're starting to go through the freezers with an eye to closing the lab ... so satisfying to toss RACKSSSSS of boxes of things! (and there's still so much more to go!)
Who’s headed to #PAG32 in January?
I’ll be at the Cassava Workshop, sharing updates on the genetics, genomics, and epigenomics of cassava improvement
I'm also thinking about bringing some of my science-related stickers ✨
Yay! looking forward to some pics :D
And my calendar is telling me that it's Junior, Lola, & Willie Day today too? 😸
A great photo of a great group! #winterfest2024
