Are they literal cats in this version?

Really enjoying that they mentioned this is a bipartisan effort in both the first AND last sentence of the article.

A bag and box of MANY plastic bobbins

A bag and box of MANY plastic bobbins

The most AMAZING thing- my Husqvarna Viking #sewing machine takes only specific and fairly expensive bobbins and a lady on the local Buy Nothing gave me all of these!

I had only 7-8 before and constantly had to change thread.

Crochet blavk witch’s hat without the brim sitting on a gift wrap covered coffee can I use as a yarn bowl

Crochet blavk witch’s hat without the brim sitting on a gift wrap covered coffee can I use as a yarn bowl

Okay, getting close to the end (finished the ancient stiff yarn and now using soft cheapo yarn) looking forward to seeing how it’ll look with the brim because right now it’s giving less Tiffany Aching and more Rincewind from Unseen University vibes.

may do a few embellishments. #crochet

My husband took this gorgeous photo of the spring flowers this morning. Way to go, clearance tulip bulbs!

Mason (?) bee in a green pear blossom

Mason (?) bee in a green pear blossom

We were wondering who was out early enough to pollinate the pear tree and I guess it’s this cute little being.

Okay, I don’t know why I expected more of this Old Navy dress I got on clearance in order to get free shipping for my dad‘s chinos order, but the skirt is a straight tube. No A-line, no curved waist seams- literally a big rectangle gathered at one end.

To elaborate on the second picture, the seam sandwich goes: bodice, skirt, elastic. The elastic is actually sewn onto the skirt, but I’m more concerned about keeping the smocking intact, so I’m clipping the skirt fabric right at the seam where it meets the bodice.

Update: the rest of this dress is still bugging the hell out of me. It’s got a very long very full gathered skirt that clings together in a big wad as I walk. Gotta narrow the skirt and shorten it.

Turns out the skirt is a separate piece sewn onto the smocked bodice, so zero qualms.

Very pleased to report I wore this altered dress to a party a few days ago (unseasonably warm!) and it looked better, felt better on, and didn’t cling to itself in a weird parody of MR James’s classic ghost story "'Oh, Whistle, and I'll Come to You, My Lad'"

My entire coven, I mean bookclub, demands the unedited version of the episode because we all love you all so much we’d listen to you talk for hours.

A pair of pretty red tulips

A pair of pretty red tulips

Got some blooming! Not sure if the “clump method” is all that much better than planting them individually aesthetically speaking, but it was certainly faster And I didn’t have to get out my earth auger.

I mean you say that, but I once convinced a mohawked punk to buy a pair glow-in-the-dark pvc pants. The beer just slid off.

This is some anxiety-inducing weather we’re having (thunderstorms, hail, tornadoes, floods?), but I did some #WinterSowing of okra, gourds, and pumpkins.

This headline suggests that not only are they wealth-hoarding, but they're also hoarding some sort of finite supply of happiness.

Time for some joy redistribution!

Ideally they’re local commercials so you can also learn about how that old guy at the dog park actually has a real estate empire.

Two #Crochet witch’s hats And a crochet hook

Two #Crochet witch’s hats And a crochet hook

Not happy with the gauge or the floppiness so I decided to restart. I was going to frog the whole thing, but then I figured why not make a witch’s hat out of another witch’s hat?

Switched to a smaller hook and fewer increases. Keeping the same awful yarn because what else am I gonna use it for?

Given the state of the world, I’m making a thread to celebrate (?) the changing of the furnace filter.

Getting rid of the dirty dusty old and replacing with the new!

Crocheting a witch’s hat with hard to see black yarn while listening to Matt Bernstein talk about Chappell Roan is a great way to keep from doomscrolling.

Upper half of a black crocheted witch hat.

Looking a little more like the Tin Woodsman than the Wicked Witch, but we’ll see what happens with this hat as we progress.

This black acrylic yarn is ancient and a little scratchy, but I already own it. #crochet
