We started to work on this paper in 2019. Finally, it's out: "Multi-Leader Single-Follower Power-Market Modeling: The Impact of DC Market-Clearing on AC Feasibility" (jointly with Martina Cerulli, Claudia D'Ambrosio, and Leo Liberti).

Anyways, I think it is a good beer that has no off-flavors & that meets the guidelines of the style. I will send it to #Bayreuth! Kill me now, dear Jury ;-

Is it outstanding enough to win any competition? I don't think so.

Still, I am very happy to share it. Who wants a bottle, PM please!
Cheers!

Second issue: I wanted it to be more clear. Let's see what time is doing to it - but this aspect I have to work on to improve similar styles in the future.

The hops are there for sure but - and this is one of the two main critical points that I see myself - that could have been a bit more spectacular given what have been throwing into the wort.

What do I think about it?

It is pretty clean for a lager yeast fermentation at 18°C (@ungespundet (at Insta) already announced to NOT believe this in the Lagerbier-Ultras WhatsApp group🤪). It is pretty bitter but the bitterness is incorporated rather nicely so that I do not experience it as harsh.

Water!
Rather low on minerals with a 3:1 ratio of sulfate over chloride to pronounce the bitterness & make it a crisper.

Yeast!
The #lager purists will kill me: I fermented the W34/70 @ 18°C.

Malts!
No adjuncts were allowed for the competition so I used 93% of Extra Pale Premium Pilsner, 3,5% of Munich II, and 3,5% of Vienna malt - the 2 latter ones mainly for a bit of malt complexity & color.

Hops!
For bittering I used Hallertauer Magnum, Centennial & Simcoe (just to make @friedies.brauhaus happy) for a late addition, Azacca, Motueka + Simcoe for the Whirlpool - and, finally - Azacca, Centennial+ Motueka for dry hopping.

Cold IPA. Did I brew it before? No. Did I had >10 examples of this beer style before on my own? No. Did I ever ferment a lager yeast at #ale #yeast temperatures? No. Did I ever try to get a clear beer after a heavy #DryHopping? No. Well, let's be ambitious.

Let's now finally post some serious stuff again ...

FrostByte - Cold IPA by Schmaidt's Nerd Brewing (7% ABV - 62 IBU - 16,3°P)

This is batch #49. Let's submit it to a competition. This time it is my 2nd one for a competition: the #HomeBrewBayreuth organized by @maisel_and_friends (see Insta)!

Interesting. Thanks a lot.

I thought they also use some tricks while doing the pivoting to keep the numerics well-behaved for the next basis system to be solved ...

Really? I remember talking to Bixby a few times and he never wanted to say what the actual pivoting rule in CPLEX is (even not after a few glasses of wine 🍷) …

Is this written now somewhere?

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

Sure it is. I agree. But how can you know this since most of the codes (Gurobi, CPLEX, etc.) are commercial black boxes?

That’s a big achievement! Congratulations 🎊🍾🎉🎈 Marco!!!

What is this new era about?

I did the same a few years ago. Mine are online as well. If you want, I can share them. Will read yours tomorrow!
