in a world where Sinn Féin can't exhale without being accused of being anti-democratic ideologues conspiring to subvert the state, it is quite extraordinary to me that Noel Thomas is getting away so lightly with associating with actual anti-democratic ideologues conspiring to subvert the state
Accidentlly left my podcast speed on x2 (which I do for American ones) when listing to a podcast by two fellas from Cork.
Felt like i was listening to a panic attack
Sick
I finally got Manannán transcribed. It is the 1939 Irish language sci-fi book with the first Spaceship using a gravity assist in literature.
Next up is conversion to modern spelling. If you know a list of known changes (annso->anseo) or can even just help by reading please let me know.
most incredible detail of this is that he lied to the Ombudsman, claiming he had refused consent for the IT to publish the podcast when he actually refused consent /unless they released it unedited/
Sure you wouldn't notice the dereliction at all now with the leaves emerging on this one tree 😉

Hey Dublin metropolitan area: don't forget to go see Fixity in Whelan's three weeks from today. It's gonna be a kind of audio ecstasy. 10 musicians performing tracks from the outrageously great new Fixity album. 'Assurance'. Elaine Howley also plays. Seriously like.
Good morning, friends! Yes, we had some midnight excitement, but beyond that we're excited to announce this year's American Tabletop Award winners!
Let's get right to it.

When Sinn Féin suggested something similar, to enquire why the national broadcaster's editorial line on Gaza is indistinguishable from the average Itamar Ben-Gvir tweet, it was darkly painted as Stalinist overreach and an assault on the freedom of the press.
Not only are they appeasing the hauliers they’re sacrificing accountability to do so
heartwarming video of astronaut Christina Koch greeting her dog for the first time after returning from space. the pup can be seen snarling, back arched, before scampering to its word buttons and pressing "IMPOSTOR" repeatedly, then "FALSE. SKIN. FALSE. SKIN." several times
Let disabled people get married or even just move in with their partners without it affecting our disability allowance.
It wasn't means tested based on my parent's income when I lived with them, it shouldn't be means tested based on my partner's income. It sets me up for financial abuse.
Some solid reporting here. The journal has been consistently good on scrutinising the far right, much better than much of the legacy media.

I love the car culture on sherkin and cape lol. Drive it still it stops and leave it to rust
Despite the difficulties Muslim Sisters of Éire managed to feed those who needed their help tonight.
Only to be verbally abused by racist arseholes who are so stupid they can't conceive that Irish born and bred people can also be Muslim.

I know it’s floating around, and wanted to show a buddy but can’t find it
Can anyone link me to the post with the side-on view of this?
sorry sorry sorry, the Garda Commissioner is only coming back from holiday today?
We are not a serious country
I feel like it’s worth saying that I was protesting *on my holiday* outside the actual cause of the increase fuel costs (US embassy in London) a month ago.
The rise in fuel bills is too high. But so is the rise in rents.
TDs asking for a cap on the former are the very ones who just voted to remove restrictions on the latter.
Renters abandoned to the mercy of the market. Businessmen apparently need protection from it.
The Irish caste system at work.
It's been 11 hours since Deputy Garda Commissioner Coxon said: "These are no longer protests, they are blockades. These blockades are putting at risk supplies of food, fuel, clean water and animal feed. These are critical for the nation and its people. This is not tolerable and is against the law."
I'm >15 years warning Irish politicians, media houses and journalists of the dangers posed by the far right, and not one of them has ever bothered to listen to me, instead choosing to make the same mistakes as every other European country
Spoiler: It's going to get much, much worse.

One of the ways protests work is by sheer numbers. It takes a lot of people to block a city, ergo a lot of people feel strongly about an issue.
When 11 fascists with massive vehicles block a motorway it presents a disproportionate picture of the level of support.
Debenhams workers organised a sit in, they're surrounded by a huge show of force from the guards
Guards in balaclavas aiding an eviction
Thinking about how quickly Gardai acted when removing the laid off Debenhams workers who blockaded trucks removing merchandise from stores over unpaid severance they were owed. Or when there's an eviction to done. Or when there's a student protest.
But never act against far right bollockses.
