What is an older TV show that still makes you laugh? ๐บ
Well there's a few but I'll go for a bit of Blackadder.
6. Gremlin Graphics, Carver Street, Sheffield
Then: Thing Bounces Back advert - Your Sinclair issue 18.
Now (Google image - May 2023): unknown, formerly bereavement care support centre and youth association group.
5. Sinclair User Priory Court, Farringdon Lane, London
Then: contents page from Sinclair User issue 127, page 3.
Now (Google imagery - August 2024): a business management consultant, and possibly other offices.
I have a vague recollection of that too. Anyone know what that show would have been?
4. Ocean Software, Central Street, Manchester
Then: Frankie advert in Crash issue 20 (page 2)
Now (Google imagery - March 2025): Reverted to the Friends' Meeting House belonging to the Quakers.
3. Kempston Micro Electronics Ltd, Singer Way, Kempston, Bedford
Then: advert in Sinclair User issue 25 (page 2)
Now (Google imagery - July 2024): A Burger Joint Kempston.
(Today I learned that they were called Kempston because they were based in Kempston. I had no idea...)
96. Portal 2 (Valve) - Xbox 360
The first Portal was in our Orange Box pick back on day 21 however, this sequel is even better. GLaDOS is back and just as crazy, along with new character Wheatley, hilariously voiced by Stephen Merchant. If you're not laughing when you play this, you need testing.
95. Paperboy (Atari) - arcade
This game blew my mind when I first saw it in the arcade. Wait, you mean it has actual bicycle handlebars to control the game? I don't remember it as being particularly responsive though, or maybe I was just crap at the game... Great looking game though!
Our next episode is uploaded and ready for release next week.
Coming on April 24th, Geoff is joined by @nemesis4909.bsky.social and @mmarzett.bsky.social to talk about the best father and son in Star Trek - Ben and Jake Sisko, and the two episodes 'Explorers' and 'The Visitor'.
2. ECC Publications, Islington Green, London.
Then: from Contents Page of Sinclair User issue 1.
Now (Google imagery - September 2025): Reiss, an English fashion brand store.
He was asked about it at Destination last year and his reply was something along the lines of "Seven years of Star Trek: Voyager but everyone wants to know about Spaceballs!"
Ironically, if you search for Tim Russ on IMDb, Spaceballs is the first entry in his "best known for" section.
1. Bug-Byte Software, The Albany, Liverpool.
Then: Advert from Sinclair User issue 1. Phone number covered in case it's been re-used since.
Now (Google imagery - July 2024): Apartments I believe, as well as a tobacco and whiskey shop.
With all of the retro adverts I see when doing research for @8bitbackissues.bsky.social, it got me thinking about all of the addresses in the mags and what now occupies those properties, so I thought I'd start some kind of weird occasional series.
