Painting complete, onto basing
Posts by Mondo
Last one for the day stage 3 on the glow up of the old ecw test figure. Highlights on. I’ll probably only do one highlight and then give them a light drybrush when I do the bases. But I think that is a massive improvement for a 20+ year old figure that was rush painted the first time round
Flesh onto the Napoleonic Russians. Don’t zoom in as this is 15mm painting on 28s - nose, cheeks and chin only. But en masse 👌
Got side tracked from what I was intending to do. Couple of flannels arrived in the shopping to be chopped up for roof, squirrelled them away before anyone saw
Varnish time!
So so slow. It remains the right consistency for about one and a half figures
Thanks. Had the feeling they were but couldn’t find. I’ve got another 18 sat in the pile. Thinking I might get them prepped
Threw even 🤦‍♂️
Stage 2. These were originally done with army painter dip 20 odd years ago (brushed on). My how things have changed. The figure was very glossy - so much so the agrax wash actually took a lot of the shine off (and we know how shiny that now is). Highlights next.
Planning on sprucing up my ecw and rebasing on multi bases. First step getting off metal washers. Managed to soak off without damage, but then through the figure on the garage floor… stuck on a base for paintwork
Old word sabots assembled for the black orcs and spear armed gobbos
Last of the Russian infantry assembled. Bought a few more sprues just to round it out
Anyone know the manufacturer? I know they’re not citadel. I can’t find decent picture , heartbreaker? Harlequin?

Finally got all the white highlights done. That took far longer than expected. Blitzed through the green highlights in a fraction of the time. Just flesh, black and buttons to go
First 3 highlights done, only 6 more to go. Starting to take shape
No only on order from the states. I normally wait until a friend wants to order at the same time and then we can split postage
All the base corrections done, was hoping to get wash on but don’t think I’ll have time later. Haven’t done the mounted officers as too many different colours to the infantry, thought I’d get them done first
Black done and corrections started. I’m very slow at the moment, holding a brush feels alien versus two days ago
Plus they make a nice noise when you shake them!
A few years back, I did a guide to creating magnetic movement trays for games like Midgard Heroic Battles - handy if you want to be able to play both battle & skirmish games with the same minis. You can find it here: mogsymakes.net/making-magne... #miniatures #spreadthelard #wargaming #nerdlings
Gold done… well perhaps not the buttons but think I’ll leave until the end this time
That’s all the white base coat done. It does look like it’s been applied by a monkey with a trowel though. But think that is my base coating style!
Bit of hobby whilst watching a film with the youngest. Ordered 3 sprues of Russian infantry whilst away to allow me to finish the last battalion. So that’s the last 16 infantry prepped. Just the uhlans to go…
Fantastic news - Amera are back open for business with the FB post. Has a picture of my take on their stepped pyramid- one of my favourite bits of terrain I’ve done!
Halfway through the white straps etc and it’s messy as anything. Will need a lot of touching up but it’s easier than base coating for me. A close up to show the mess and why I paint with washes…
A little bit of history in Aberdovey whilst on the evening walk yesterday
Back home after a week in wales with the in laws. Fantastic week, but being in a house with 10 people for someone with a brain injury is exhausting. Bit of painting and alone time now home, 2 colours done
It’s never enough, no matter how many you order. It’s a law of the universe. Plus you can never find the ones you already bought when you come to use them 🤣

Those tufts look great. Have bookmarked for the next time I run out
