The British A and B companies demonstrated tremendous fortitude (especially B in the centre) as they weathered Andy's heavy defensive fire; but it was on the right flank where every platoon in C company was needed to take the church, suffering ~50% casualties. #spreadthelard #wargaming
Andy's defence was careful and measured. He successfully denied the bridge to British armoured reinforcements. As a result this armour contributed very little, and the fearsome Crocodile remained off the table. Both sides made good use of their mortar support. #spreadthelard #wargaming

In interesting game where the British held the initiative and momentum for much of the game, only for this to ebb away at critical points. Yesterday saw an overdue return of O Group to the table. We played (in 6mm) the first scenario from the Normandy book; 6th Royal Scottish Fusiliers (Ben and I) were to assault St Manvieu in the early stages of Op Epsom against the 26th PzGrenadiers (@andycrow.bsky.social). #spreadthelard #wargaming

The British Light infantry and Rifles managed to cause enough damage to the French Grenadiers to cause force morale to hit zero after about a dozen phases of play.
