A tense and brutal game this evening. Campaign turn four on The Road to Bremen and the British clear table three on their second attempt. Despite 30% casualties. combined British artillery and tank fire ground the German force morale down to zero. A British win.

My foe, Two Tiger Tony did his usual and bought the biggest gun available; a 12pdr and proceeded to blow my French away.
The 7th Hussars flank attack failed by a whisker.
We did more wrong than right but it's a good start

The British A and B companies demonstrated tremendous fortitude (especially B in the centre) as they weathered Andy's heavy defensive fire; but it was on the right flank where every platoon in C company was needed to take the church, suffering ~50% casualties. #spreadthelard #wargaming

Andy's defence was careful and measured. He successfully denied the bridge to British armoured reinforcements. As a result this armour contributed very little, and the fearsome Crocodile remained off the table. Both sides made good use of their mortar support. #spreadthelard #wargaming

Yesterday saw an overdue return of O Group to the table. We played (in 6mm) the first scenario from the Normandy book; 6th Royal Scottish Fusiliers (Ben and I) were to assault St Manvieu in the early stages of Op Epsom against the 26th PzGrenadiers (@andycrow.bsky.social). #spreadthelard #wargaming
