Once upon a time, we had season tickets (different city and team), and several people around us said they knew they were in the right place because “there’s the lady knitting”.

RIP Gary Kelley. I remember seeing his work for the first time when I was 16 in art college while flicking through American illustration annuals. Looking at it now I think it had a more profound effect on me than I’d realised.
Every single one of the astronauts who went to the moon and back on Artemis II was educated at a public school.
Thinking of the teachers who poured into Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen tonight. You helped send a kid to the moon!

The front of a sheer white crinoline gown consisting of a short bodice embellished with a triangle of whitework embroidery that finishes at a point centre front of the waist. The skirt has festoons of whitework in loops around the hem
Back view of the white gauze 1860s dress showing the long full sleeves, the triangular shape of embroidery at the back of the bodice and the continuation of the whitework around the hem of the broad skirt
This is not a black and white photograph but is, in fact, the sheerest of white gauze #1860s crinoline gowns, pictured over a black form to showcase the whitework embellished fabric. It is ghostly and gorgeous. Sold via #daguerreauctions #FashionHistory 🗃️🪡

I’m in Barcelona this week, so expect a LOT of photos of twiddly architecture, since Barcelona does it so well. To start, here’s Gaudi’s Casa Mila (1906–10), better known as La Pedrera (The Quarry) because of its undulating rock face vibe. (Am pacing myself with all things Gaudi, so didn’t go in.)

Fancy ceiling decorations ahoy!
The main auditorium at the Palace of Catalan Music is SUPREMELY fancy. Everything is stained glass or mosaic or tiles or twiddly stonework, and the central skylight looks like a sunburst surrounded by singing ladies, and droops down from the ceiling like a great big Art Nouveau boobie. It’s amazing.

Random tourists standing in front of a fancy stained glass window. The entire Casa Batlló is an exercise in photographing around tourists.
Ceiling wibbles with added stained glass and pillars
A hallway made up of a series of white plastered catenary arches
The Casa Batlló also contains more trippy ceilings, stained glass and catenary arches than you can shake a stick at. It’s a bit like being swallowed by a huge sea creature, except there’s a gift shop.
I'm asking you politely: Please don't litter on the internet? AI generated art and music smells.
I love it when you travel! I get to live vicariously through you.

In "Alchemy or the Useless Science" by Remedios Varo, a solitary figure draped in a patterned cloak appears deep in thought, seated before a mysterious, angular house-like structure set against a surreal landscape. Varo's work often explores themes of mystical and esoteric transformation, reflected here in the intricate geometrical forms and alchemical symbols that populate the scene.
