Just spent like 2 hours troubleshooting Nvidia drivers for Linux Mint so I can get my tablet display to work without having to turn secure boot off. It failed and I had to wipe Nvidia. Now back at square one and the tablet works fine suddenly? lol, whatever, I'll take it. 😂

Was trying to withdraw all my stuff from OneDrive as I move away from Microslop services and forgot my OneNotes were entirely cloud-based and had no local files (like Word, excel, etc on the PC). So when I wiped the Onedrive I wiped the notes. Fucking moron.

One of the benefits of using your brain instead of GenAI to write/worldbuild is that when you inevitably screw up your data backups and lose your notes, you can just recreate them, because you already made them once.

Ask me how I know this (because I'm a moron and just accidently deleted my notes)

I was always the opposite too - hated the Karen Traviss Halo novels due to their misanthropic bent (Still wouldn't take to them - too warmongery and filled with UNSC/human jingoism). But with the way the world is heading and the underlying drivers behind it, I can't look at aspirational fiction.

Lately I feel my tonal preferences in sci-fi and fantasy shifting markedly towards misanthropy. Maybe I'm becoming cynical but I don't think we deserve to be flattering ourselves with optimistic depictions of being sensible and equal partners to comparatively successful alien races.
