Last week the Lancet series on 'ultra-processed' foods was published, a one-sided view on #UPFs and their impact on health. But, is the fact these foods are processed actually relevant? It was a pleasure to give my take on this for Inside Science on BBC Radio 4!

Rounding off the event were three workshops that brought together attendees to discuss key priorities identified through the keynotes and panel, and to develop research questions to address these. Keep your eyes peeled for more information on the outcome of these in the future!
Greg and Craig were then joined by a panel - Liz Harris, Jennifer Smith Maguire and Louise Dye - to discuss local, regional and national priorities, and how @sheffieldhallamuni.bsky.social and @sheffielduni.bsky.social can come together alongside other key stakeholders to address these priorities.
The event kicked off with keynotes from @felly500.bsky.social and @craigleadley.bsky.social, who identified key priorities for future work from a public health and food industry perspective. Two standout themes were (unsurprisingly!) sustainability and food security.
Attendees representing a diverse range of groups, including @sheffieldhallamuni.bsky.social, @sheffielduni.bsky.social, @sheffieldchildrens.bsky.social, Sheffield City Council, @barnsleycouncil.bsky.social, HDRC Doncaster, Doncaster Council, Co-Centre for Sustainable Food Systems, and SCYPHeR.
Yesterday, myself and Dr Viren Ranawana (@sheffielduni.bsky.social) hosted the Sheffield #Food and #Nutrition Research Workshop. The event brought together food, nutrition and public health stakeholders to explore collaborative working to tackle local, regional and national priorities.
It is really brilliant to see this free online training go live.
The academics have worked so closely with our policy colleagues at OHID to make this training a reality.
I am sure many will find this resource useful!
Please do let us know!
