Part of my advocacy for not surrendering is sustaining, which involves taking breaks, pleasure, and beauty. See you in the streets (and these ancients producing brand new acorns and leaves on the trails).

Not really the most urgent errand in the world and yet... I must ask, does anyone know of a good craft essay about transitions in fiction?

Trans Youth Emergency Project: Supporting Families of Trans Youth Supporting families of trans youth nationwide through the logistical and financial burdens of navigating bans on gender-affirming care.

There are so many people we need to stand up for right now. Thanks to all of you who are calling their reps, protesting, donating, and taking action. Here is a great trans rights organization that I've been donating to. If you have others you love, share below! southernequality.org/tyep/

We are the Literary World's Prestigious Taco Bell Quarterly. We're also some trans and nonbinary guys. A reminder that you exist, you're beautiful, you're a writer, and you and your work are important. Live más.

Sunday, I'm doing a FREE online overview of publishing--everything writers need to know--and you should be there! It's also an intro to our monthlong Pub Crawl program (publishing education online all Feb), but you don't have to be doing Pub Crawl to come to this! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

Two books that will help you in this time. Leslie Marmon Silko’s Ceremony and Ursula LeGuin’s The World for World is Forest. They will encourage to to expand your hearts into new possibilities that engender courage in you rather than fear. Women and some men know reality is larger than we pretend.

A male Splendid Fairy-wren, Malurus splendens perched on a grey stone wall. The intense blues of his plumage glow against a drab brown background. The bird has a shiny royal blue head, tail and back, with a deeper shade of blue on its belly. The primary feathers are a teal colour. The velvety black of the bird's nape and bib stand out and enhance the tiny pale blue feathers on its cheek (the ear coverts).

Nature: So, what shade of blue would you like to be?

Splendid Fairy-wren: Yes

A quote from my piece, "once mighty" in the inaugural issue of ette review: "once one stole one drank one broke his neck one laced the moonlight behind the sagebrush" in white lettering against a blue gray background with a shadow across the bottom.

It's here at last and it's BEAUTIFUL. Huge thanks to @noramaynard.bsky.social and Beth Hahn. Please check out the inaugural issue of _ette_review and all the stunning contributors. My piece is a breathless micro called "once mighty" and I'd love for you to read it. ettereview.com/fall2023/fish/

California Sues Giant Oil Companies, Citing Decades of Deception Launching one of the most prominent climate lawsuits in the nation, the state claims Exxon, Shell, BP and others misled the public and seeks creation of a special fund to pay for recovery.

Damn, California sues Exxon, Chevron, Shell, BP, ConocoPhillips and American Petroleum Institute for their decades of climate deception and damages.

*One-in-four* Americans are now represented in climate accountability lawsuits, says Fossil Free Media's Jamie Henn. www.nytimes.com/2023/09/15/b...

I switched to Arial recently, in an attempt to make a draft look new and unfamiliar, and it was strangely peaceful 🤗
