This classification using the Atlantic Forest data didn’t quite align with the traditional classifications of successional groups found in the literature
Our extensive dataset enabled to systematically classify 2,794 species into successional groups using a data-driven approach, a list which is shared as Supplementary Material.
The study shows that secondary tree communities are notably distinct, but these is not the case for other successional stages
