The bot emails are now starting "First of all, I'm not a bot!" and honestly I'm going to need Sam Altman set on fire
“Now if we ever meet any peng they’ll want to kill us,” said Rob. “Thanks for that, Alya, you’ve just made us the enemies of an entire race.” “It was my pleasure; they had already become my enemies.” “Seems petty of you, doesn’t it?” She blinked and then pulled down her scarf. “They stole my ship, my life’s work, and my freedom. I am repaying them.” “And you never thought to confide in any of us?” Rob stepped closer. They were the same height, so he met her knife-like gaze with one of his own. He wondered how old she was. She did not seem much older than he was, but he could not be sure. “You thought we were too stupid, was that it? Or you didn’t trust us? Gorm seems to think you do, but I don’t believe it.” “Oh?” She looked suddenly uncomfortable but quickly regained her composure. “Why would I trust you?”
It is Book Quote Wednesday and the word is 'quick'. In The Sky-Slayer by Joel Cornah, Rob Sardan realises that being hated by an entire race of giant, intelligent penguins might not be a good idea. #BookQW

I'm not going to quote-tweet Parker Molly's cries for Katniss to save the US because I'm too busy boycotting American goods for over a fucking year while blue state babies screamed at me for hurting the "good" states.

Well, this stinks. Still wrestling with iPhone's Liquid Glass, but I text, and I don't want to add Google and its AI onto any phone.
So I will need another backup phone idea if Samsung goes this route.

Sincerely hope you’re not sick of me and my stats already because there’s a whole lot more where this came from
While the Artemis II flies back from the Moon without even trying to destroy it, why not kick back with some stories about a spaceship that's less cowardly?

We do NOT want author profiles or book reviews (we're good for those right now).
Otherwise we want to keep an open mind and just ask you to keep in mind that S&S is a distinct fantasy sub-genre!
Our free issue #0 has more what we mean by that: newedgeswordandsorcery.com/product/new-...
Today marks the eighth anniversary of my father’s death. In February I posted a comic about it, masterfully drawn by @hotelfred.bsky.social, which you can read and purchase (on a PWYW basis) below:
PENITENTS is a story about people tearing open their hearts and bleeding onto each other.
When @interrobangbus.bsky.social showed me Evangeline’s piece just before we announced the date, I knew it was a perfect fit.
grateful to @egallagher.bsky.social for letting this be a part of the book.

We were going through a familyy member's bookshelves today, and discussing the illustrated novels we came across from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s.
Illustrations add so much 'story weight' to a book, and I miss their presence.
Well done!
The cover of The Traitor & The Wretch, black and white illustration showing the two main characters, one surrounded by stylized daggers and holding one of his own, and the other trapped by chains, skulls, and bones. The cover art is by Any Phillips, the book is written by Jasmine Walls, and the interior illustrations are by Rowan MacColl.
The cover of 'The Last Session Volume 1, Roll For Initiative' graphic novel showing a group of D&D players and their respective in-game characters. Art by Dozerdraws, written by Jasmine Walls, and letterer by Micah Myers.
The cover of BROOMS, a witchy southern graphic novel with an entirely BIPOC cast. Written by Jasmine Walls, Illustrated by Teo DuVall, with colors by Bex Glendining, and lettering by Ariana Maher.
The cover of Vixen: NYC, drawn by Vasco Georgiev, showing a young Black woman in a cropped orange cardigan and high waisted blue panets with her hair half down and straightened, and half in braids. SHe is surrounded by ghostly glowing animal spirits, incliding a racoon, tiger, dog, eagle, an monkey on her shoulder, and a snake wrapped around her like a friend. She is gazing around a night-time New York City street in wonder. Written by Jasmine Walls, Inks by Manou Azumi, Backgrounds by Toby Fan, Flats by Hailey Stewart, Renders by BBM, Letters by Micah Myers

I'm open for writing work, ready with original pitches, and viciously anti-AI.
it is funny when folks comment shit like "this makes me wanna be a luddite" in the face of AI bullshit meanwhile I just over here like "wtf do you mean? you aren't one yet???"
...then I remember a lot of people don't know that luddites weren't just technophobes en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luddite
what the hell, Star Sword Nemesis is currently 20% off because I got really excited about NASA and it's a book about a girl who also gets really excited about NASA and that's good enough reason for me. this sale ends as soon as Artemis II splashes down
The cover for This Mortal Coil, with art by Jan and Vlad Schwarts. The book is written by Jasmine walls and illustrated by Marie Enger. The cover shows a skeleton wearing a cloak and holding a golden, broken sword, their pose furtive as they tug at their hood. Behind them is a path leading up to a looming and shadowed castle framed by a bright moon and a blood red sky.
We're excited to reveal our newest illustrated novella:
This Mortal Coil
Written by @mythjae.bsky.social
Illustrated by @soengery.bsky.social
With gorgeous cover art by @artwins.bsky.social
We’ve also got some very cool announcements to go with this cover reveal, but first, what's the story? 🧵✨

Hello! đź’ś
Thanks so much to everyone who submitted their comic! We're gonna get going reviewing your wonderful submissions, planning to let everyone know by the end of April!
I finally finished Persephone Effect. It took longer than expected, because my stupid healthy sleep schedule means that I get tired at a reasonable time instead of being able to read til 3am.
Anyway, it very good. But now I have to find a new book to read.
Ah, I didn't know about Conjured Ink. I'll see if I can support them properly. Thanks for letting me know.
The Great Tolkien Reread is a double-chapter post today, discussing "At the Sign of the Prancing Pony" and "Strider", a rare glimpse into how the war of the ring, and its attendant crises of refugeeism and displacement, are affecting ordinary people. wrongquestions.blogspot.com/2026/03/the-...
