The way folks desperately need the real-world villains to be somehow cognitively compromised because otherwise it means they themselves could be a real-world villain.

Just sanist ableism things.

Right To Try Work legislation is worthless Get the benefits you're entitled to: help with personal independence payment (PIP), universal credit (UC), employment and support allowance (ESA),disability living allowance (DLA). Claims, assessments...

DWP has hailed “landmark” new right to try legislation, which comes into force on 30 April, as having removed the fear of losing benefits if disabled claimants try work. But the details reveal that, in reality, the supposed guarantee is worthless and starting work can still trigger a reassessment

Most disabilities are considered "invisible" and all disabilities are none of your business unless the person living with them want them to be your business. Ability is a spectrum that we all live within. #BeKind #HelpOthers #MindYourBusiness #disability #Baltimore #Maryland

Autism Acceptance isn't enough, Autistic people deserve more — genuine inclusion, real advocacy, and systems built with us, not just for us.
This April, let's move from awareness to action

Thank you for posting this.

I too am autistic and experience dissociation.

I feel disconnected from my body and I sometimes completely lose chunks of time and have no idea what happened.

In my case personally, my psychiatrist and I think it might be tied in with my PMDD as it occurs cyclically.

As a musician, among other things, I'll add that obligatory percussion sound that plays between scenes in Law & Order 😊

This sounds really interesting.

Will it be recorded at all?

(Unfortunately I cannot travel for disability reasons.)

They’re intent on separating us from the most conspicuous of us so they can say we don’t speak for our most vulnerable

& so we can’t demand the ruling class pay their fair share to support us

It’s a money grab

Perpetuating the “profound autism” narrative hurts ALL Autistic people

Its oppression

Profound Autism Summit The Profound Autism Summit is a conference bringing together leaders from the areas of research, medicine, treatment, advocacy, education, and human services to discuss the needs of those with Profoun...

Can someone PLEASE tell me

If we are defining PROFOUND autism as an autistic person w/ comorbid learning & communication disabilities

WHY isn’t it just a conference about Autistic people w/ comorbid intellecual disabilities?

It’s cuz they want to negate the rest of us as “not REALLY autistic”

Hi Alanna,

Are the meetings in person or online?

Thanks

Accessibility I have to ask for isn’t actually accessibility.

“Ring the bell and someone will help you!”

Or you could make it so I can open your door just like anybody else.

“Call ahead for—“

Do you actually want my money?

“Submit proof of disability for—“

No, I don’t think I will.

Happy Autism Acceptance Day! I came to UK partly as it seemed to be exceptionally accepting of autistic ppl, as research among explored countries supports:
journals.plos.org/plosone/arti... Autism acceptance relates to lower depression. Yet UK Government wants to strip ppl of diagnoses & benefits.

This is how propaganda works - a report states that people can’t access specialist support they need without a formal diagnosis (which is true). The way it gets reported is this….

I don’t think people should have to pay for parking when they are a patient or with a patient at a medical facility of any kind. This is one of those American things that we take for granted but is actually bullshit. It’s bad enough that we have to pay for medical care (AND insurance AND copays AND)

Please don’t prank autistic people for April Fool’s Day unless you already know they enjoy being pranked. (Many autistics HATE this day. HATE IT.)

🧵/ The NHS is about to undergo one of the most radical – and scandalous - changes in its history.

From 1st April (the public are the fools in this), GPs will be contractually obliged to seek remote “advice & guidance” from hospital clinicians, making it even harder to see an NHS specialist.

After finally seeing a consultant and having major surgery, with complications, the surgeon was furious that a referral hadn't been sorted years ago!

And I'm pretty fortunate overall.

I dread to think how much misery and danger these changes will cause.

This is really worrying.

I am too stressed to go into what I experienced as a result of GPs refusing to refer me to specialists, for nearly 20 years, but this news sounds like more people might end up going through what I did.

My condition cost me jobs, friendships and delayed my escape from abuse
