Thanks so much for listening, Fidel, even if the poem is out-of-season and commemorating events 6 years ago. I appreciate the chance to share it for your prompt this week πŸ’šπŸŒ²

I'm part of an environmental group & gave a talk last week about our lake. I brought up how important our lake/forest was to us during the pandemic. It's something not to be forgotten.
I'm honoured you shared this poem video for my #NaturehasWeapons πŸ’š

Wednesdays I’m jaded,
half in,
half out,
crawling to
two days
of freedom;

Sunny all week,
nature has
weapons against
cheerfulness in
Seattle, it’s rain Saturday;

sighing,
I pretend idealistic
cynicism is an
answer to a glass half
empty

I feel your pain, Mizz. Living in Ireland even we have had enough of the rain!
Great imagery & well done for using #NaturehasWeapons in your pieceπŸ…

Thank you Fidel @dragonslayerma.bsky.social for your marvellous #PromptCombo #NaturehasWeapons. Here's my battered and bedraggled response. Looking forward to reading and responding to other offerings from the #PoetryCommunity #BlueSkyPoets

This is bang on for #NatureHasWeapons , those pesky hail storms can really hurt. I love 'a thundercrack from nowhere' & 'turn and run' excellent piece.

My pandemic poem for #PromptCombo @dragonslayerma.bsky.social

CW: sentimental, especially w/ the music, but it's a tribute (though I'm told med workers didn't want to be heroes; they were doing a job, an immensely difficult one)

#PromptCombo It's #NatureHasWeapons for Tuesday.
Have a great day wherever you are.

Oh, Francis, I think this might be a new favourite of mine of your words. It's so beautifully dark & how you describe 'beautiful spider webs, larger than bridal dresses' fabulous & then 'seductive black widows'. Bravo, my friendπŸ‘πŸ‘

Believe What You Know.

I should have known after so many years.
To look blind at decades, rewind, reshape,
find childhood remainders by stains and tears,
lost acres of land, solid woodcrete gapes.

I should have known memories lichen-gild.
Hedgerows, stickleback-ditch, meadow playground,
fertilise car-engine growth, oil new builds.
Village becomes town, town sprawls unbound.

I know the jaywalk throws down ruderal
invitations to grout creases with flyby seeds.
Rye smiles by dog-pee corners and all
waste-ground overtaken by so-called weeds.

I have known with admiration, pioneers.
Maginalised in strength, dispersed in hope.

My dear friend, this is a wonderful story of what was & what we have now. I really like the way you have weaved your way with nature’s weeds & the pioneers doing their very best through it all.

Here's a poem I wrote to a painting prompt. Not totally on topic (no change there then), more Nature's defence than weapons.

For the wonderful @dragonslayerma.bsky.social and #PromptCombo #NatureHasWeapons

Back to read everyone's poems soon.

Ooh, Emily, my darling girl. I just adore every single word you have written. This is soul food for me. I'm out there and definitely 'be more poppy' that amazing line 'a cup that opens new each day' #NatureHasWeapons & breathe in the beauty.

Awe, this is a sad telling for my #NaturehasWeapons
I can hear the long ago fidgety kids. It's awful to see it not being used. Love this 'the delicate balance of nature, of life, of love'

Mothership

You know what they say
Out here, the plants can read your mind
Send rhizomes into your bloodstream
A taproot down your spine
Until your bones become a tuning fork
This is how it was in the old days
Earth colonized by a primeval Eden
The harder you try, the quicker you -

Don't fight it

Not sure how to describe this. A hall of light, with the vibe of a trippy cathedral.

Might share a pandemic tribute poem for #NatureHasWeapons but first, here's a quick write:

Not saying plants are aliens, just strongly implying it 😜

I like the thought that plants are aliens. I always feel that trees understand me when I'm surrounded by them in the forest. I'll be looking at them a little bit differently after reading your intriguing intriguing piece. I love the photos, an amazing retreat. Huge thank you for sharing πŸ’šπŸŒ¬ darlin.

I'm loving your take on my #NaturehasWeapons . There's a real strong build-up to what's hiding & then bang the herd are coming as one...the ending is perfect.'There is only one victor'

Nature’s sharpest weapon isn’t claw or flameβ€”
it’s the law that names chaos and turns it into chains.
