Working on Cotton Cuts’ « Flyaway » puzzle mystery quilt in the pink colorway… clue 1 completed #cottoncuts #quilting #sewingbluesky #sewing #quiltersofbluesky
Oooh that’s slick 🤯
inventing tools as I go… quilt binding is way easier if you wind it around a lint roller & pull out as needed -this would be a spaghetti mess without winding up to keep it tidy #quilting #quiltersofbluesky #beginnersewing #sewinghacks
Made this using Sam Hunter’s “Quilt Talk” book in 2021. I haven’t finished putting it together because I think I want to size down his name a little bit so it isn’t the longest line, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I think it’s time.
Oh man, I feel you… don’t look too close at mine 😜 …we’re all out here doing our best
Binding my second ever quilt project
Attaching the binding to the rainbow floral quilt… my second ever quilt, been at this project for months and finally adding the finishing touches! #quilting #quiltersofbluesky #quilt #beginnersewing
Woo hoo!! Great news! The SAQA board voted unanimously to pull the entire show out of AQS (see previous post for details)
And the International Quilt Museum has acquired my quilt for their permanent collection!
We all could use some good news. Thank you everyone for making your voices heard!
Ooooh this is lovely
That's it.
I'm never going to dust again! 🙃

If you are feeling overwhelmed right now, focus on how to create.
Make a list of your favorite materials and write down why you gravitate towards them. Hone in on what brings you joy when using certain art supplies or instruments can be critical for turning to those instead of scrolling.
Oh man, I love this!
Cream-colored, hand embroidered patch placed on a pink background surrounded by embroidery tools. On left is a semicircle comprised of wedges in a variety of colors - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, black, brown, light blue, pink, and white. On the right hand side is printed "Equal rights for others dies not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie." Design from a sticker I saw on line. I do not know who designed it.
One of my first hand embroidered projects, a patch backed with felt.
It's not pie.
I’m making things up as I go along & then working backwards when I begin to understand WHY the rules were there to begin with… it would probs be faster just to follow the rules… it’s a bit like learning my way around NYC by getting lost, then looking at the map afterwards
My quilt about women’s reproductive rights has been banned from all American Quilters Society shows this year. It’s been part of a traveling show with SAQA. My artist statement is too long for here. It’s on my website: laurashaw.net/quilts#/your-mother

I am disgusted by the recent Executive Orders that promote discrimination, stigmatize and exclude trans and nonbinary people. I support LGBTQ+ people’s right to be their authentic selves, to be safe, and to be loved. #QuotesForTheRevolution
Amazing, thank you!!
Nest of bird’s eggs next?
Phantom Tollbooth is iconic
Whatttt… glow in the dark yarn?! This is a thing?? Mind blown.
Annnnnd you’ve already posted a bunch of these incredible art inspired combos on your profile, I just had to go looking! I spoke too soon! What a delight. I’m loving these art history references. More please!
