Ig lol you couldve replied just read what you say before you send it and try to see how it comes off. I dont think thats a trigger though thats just impulsiveness

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Why do you use the word triggered as if it bothered me lmao? im not bothered or overreacting i just think what you said and how you worded it was stupid given the context

1 year ago 1 0 0 0

Ok well your initial reply gives off a very different message than what youre trying to say lmao

it sounded like you were being one of those contentious twitter users that just wanna ratio op with “facts and logic” while entirely missing the point. Maybe look at how you come off next time lol

And you chose to emphasize that by saying he was a “criminal” and plead guilty??? Do you not realize that gives off the entire opposite message of what youre saying now??? At least acknowledge how your original reply comes off…

Nothing was presented incorrectly? He was charged for being involved with making mod chips, thats literally all they said…?

Op wasnt lackin you are just contentious and get off on playing contrarian because you think your article changes anything that was presented

This reeks of the same energy you get from people that “sympathize” with george floyd but will go out of their way to make sure to point out his previous criminal record.

Regardless of context what you shared doesn’t change or justify anything? youre just being a petty apologist lmao

Brother you are defending a man being charged 14m for piracy, stop acting like you didnt just say the most pathetic thing in the world.

You can claim piracy bad but claiming someone deserves a punishment on that level is fucking insane and infinitely more pathetic than anything anyone here said

If you dont want problems with ai being used for impersonation or infringement dont allow it to train on data that can specifically be used for that… full stop

Putting some law after the fact on something that is trained on work that can be used maliciously wont fix the problem

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Brother in christ… fix the problem from the source… this would be like sending out a ship with a hole in it and fixing it later with fucking duct tape… when its already half way through the ocean

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

this wouldnt be such a massive problem if it was just simply done properly (as in the process of training not the end result like youve been parroting over and over)

But to people like you and the companies that profit off ai, ethics dont matter if they go against profits

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

Stop trying to portray us as being against the advancement of technology, that hasnt been the argument artists are making, we just dont want to be exploited. If ai was like what benn is working with or at least closer to adobes model (having the rights to the training data)

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

The funny thing is that it can and has been done ethically before, hell the person that made this post is working on supporting ethical ai projects.

What artists ARE against is people using our work without rights or consent to use it.

I personally find ai as a concept is fine but its how its done that is the problem. Its why i specifically brought up that analogy before.

Ai that exploits creators work without consent or rights is inherently unethical full stop

I dont just wanna call you a dumbass without elaborating but you are a dumbass if thats your take lol.

Anyways, nobody is against advancing technology this isnt some “we dont want to adapt” bullshit this is a “we want to not have our work exploited by some rich billionaire to make more profit”

Also, stop overly abstracting shit just to make it harder to argue, and being a little contentious mf, youre very well aware of the issues dont sit here and play dumb lmao.

Putting people out of jobs isnt “harming nobody” being able to impersonate artists, peoples looks, voices, etc is all a very real and meaningful concern, stop being intentionally obtuse about a real problem just because you happen to be apart of the developer side💀

Theyre not… i didnt say that, i said you cant say something is on the same ethical level as something else because the end result is similar and pointed to an example to make it obvious for you because you cant seem to grasp the importance the process plays into how ethical something is 🤦

However, out of the 4 clauses they take into consideration when it comes to using copyrighted material you can only really argue that maybe 2 of them it might be considered fair use and theyre not very strong arguments either…

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

In terms of legality we actually have copyright laws… ironically you can look through the clauses for fair use in the us and decide if ai is covered and its not really an obvious answer because like all things its up to court’s discretion.

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Thats a bogus ass argument lmao

If i give you two apples and said one was hand picked from my yard, and another was picked by some unpaid third world child labor you cant sit here and honest to god say that theyre both apples so they should be treated the same ethically 💀

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

You should re read what i said…

I never said they dont share rough similarities my argument is that you cant treat them the same in a legal or ethical standard just because ai is “kind of” emulating one small process the human mind does.

Saying they’re comparable enough is just disingenuous
